Mission: Episode 11 - Family Matters
Location: Marine Country, Snake Pit Gift Shop
Timeline: MD003 0900 hrs

Corporal Fry frowned at his latest project and said to himself, “This is not what I thought I’d be doing when I joined the corp.”

His attention was turned to the kiosk/gift shop/ PX or whatever they were labeling it. The double doors were spread open and there were a couple free standing display racks of t-shirts bearing both the Pioneer and FMC logo’s, the latter with the detachment patch on the left arm.

Sighing, the corporal started the marquee streamer and smirked as he read the message, making sure nothing was misspelled.

“The FMC has designated the Cure’s Tour aboard the USS Pioneer as a hazardous duty/hardship posting and has authorized this PX.”

Gus shook his head ruefully and glanced over his shoulder at the Blue Room the Captain had authorized at a cluster of marines smoking cigars in one corner. They’d upgraded the air filtration and exchange system there, to make sure the smoke only bothered the corner section.

Glancing about, he dusted his hands and slid into a nearby workstation to assume his Corporal of the Guard duties.

tag?

The turbolift doors opened and Lax walked out, a little surprised at what she saw. "There really is a gift shop. I thought larim was pulling my leg." she said as she began to browse. She nodded to the Corporal as she walked by. "Nice place you guys have here."

Shy stood as the officer approached and rendered a hand salute, "Thank you ma'am. Yeah, apparently Pioneer is a rough place to work. There's a selection of hand made things from various marines that we trade back and forth with, so their one of a kind things like that bottle of wine from Taravon 3 by Major Swearington's family. He's off of the Astrea Imprimatar."

Chuckling, the short bearded marine continued, "We even convinced Captain Tremble to put one of his ducks up for purchase." The marine gestured toward a carved wood duck on display. "But there's more booze and edibles as well. In the future we may bring a visiting chef aboard for fresh snacks and baked goods. Please look around and I'll help if you need anything."

"Sure thing, Corporal." Lax said as she went to looking. "Actually." she began. "How good are you at picking out gifts?"

Fry froze for a second and then smiled slightly and said, "They really didn't cover that at boot, ma'am. But if you tell me who you're looking to find something for and maybe something about them I can help."

"Commander Myles." she replied. "Oure Chief of security." she added. "Ive known him for quite a while, but I want this to be special." she grinned

Fry glanced at her for a moment then turned to a cabinet and took down a small figurine. "Well, ma'am. There are these." The figurine was that of Commander Myles, with a slightly squarish body and rounded head. The arms were outstretched holding phasers. "A few of us made these up for the senior officers."

Setting the figurine down, he tapped the head which bobbled to and fro. The tips of the phasers flashed red and a fair rendering of the security chief's voice made "Pew pew pew pew pew" noises.

"Heh. He'll either love it, or be annoyed" Lax laughed. "Either way, I'll be happy." she grinned.

Tyr smiled back and slid the bobble head into a bag. "Nice," he remarked with a smile. "Anything else I could help you with?"
