Mission: Episode 5 - It Would Be Their Pleasure
Location: Bridge & Captain's Ready Room USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD010 1030 hrs

Tyler had scheduled a romantic ride through the Casperian mountains with Kat. But he had almost forgotten his Dad's hat. Tyler never got on a horse without it, unfortunately he had left it in his Ready Room. So back up to the ship he went for a moment. When the turbolift doors opened he spotted a new junior officer in the center seat. On the way to Casperia Tyler had familiarized himself with the crew rotations and knew the man to be Paul Michael the ACOO. He thought that perhaps he would test the young man out.

Tyler put on his best Casperian accent and spoke rather loud. "Well lookie here this is what the bridge looks like. I'll be damned..."

Paul spun the chair around and looked to where the voice came from. Having never met the captain, he recognized him none the less. He stood up quickly. "Captain on the bridge!"

The kid was good. He did his research and knew that the Casperians taking a tour of the Pioneer would not be brought to the bridge. But it ruins my fun... Tyler thought. He motioned for the Lieutenant to take a seat. "At ease you're in charge here I am on vacation." He said with chuckle. "The chair is comfortable eh?"

As long as the captain remained standing, Paul stood, out of respect. "The chair is very comfortable, sir...I could get use to it, sir." He smiled at his little joke. "Are you enjoying your vacation, captain?"

"Yes I am thanks Casperia is quite the place. You should take some time down there. We do appreciate you holding down the fort as it were. Welcome aboard, make yourself at home. After-all this is going to be your home for quite some time." Tyler spoke as he walked around the bridge and greeted everyone that was there. He prided himself on being an approachable Captain, one who took interest in those under his command.

Paul watched as the captain walked around the bridge, greeting the crew. He wondered if it was proper protocol if the Officer of the Day should follow the captain as he walked around the bridge.
He would have to research this.

When Tyler crossed from the engineering station and back to the command pit he was smirking. If this kid did learn to relax he would snap. He is simply wound too tight. he thought. "Listen Lieutenant... Michael is it? Just relax yes this is Starfleet and yes there is protocol. But there is no emergency here at the moment, so just relax. Have you made it down to the planet at all?"

"Yes sir, it's Paul Michael. I was down there when I first arrived, before coming to the ship, sir."

"So tell me Paul why here? Why Cardassia? I mean you could have gone anywhere in Starfleet. But you chose Cardassian space, which is something that most young officers are not want to do." Tyler motioned for Paul to follow him as he walked into the Ready Room.

Paul followed the captain into his ready room. "It's the adventure, sir. The Cardiassians are rebuilding.....Klingon forces are trying to take some of their territory away...and the Romulans...well, their the Romulans."

"That is true and the Romulans are being less Romulan since Hobus. Just ask our Science Officer. He is a really interesting guy once you get to know him. For now my suggestion is settle in, speaking of I hope the Quartermaster has assigned you quarters. You caught us as we are getting back on our feet after an incident." Tyler's voice and look stared off for a moment as he thought about his journey through the timelines.

"The quarters are fine, sir. I had to share quarters on my last assignment, it takes awhile to get used to having no one else in the room."

"That can be rough, having to share personal space that is. We are lucky here on the Pioneer we have enough space that just about everyone has their own quarters. Whelp Paul it seems that you have everything well at hand here. I have a wife, a horse and some trails waiting for me." Tyler said as he put his Dad's hat on. "That is if there is nothing else."

"Nothing sir. I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation. I'll take care of the ship, sir." Paul replied.

"In that case you have the bridge and are dismissed." Tyler said with a smile as he headed for the door. He gave one last look to his new junior officer. The man will do well here and Tyler knew it.
