Mission: Episode 6 - Old Habits Die Hard
Location: =/\= Main Shuttlebay =/\=
Timeline: MD004 1100 hrs

The Senior Chief stood at the ramp of the shuttle dressed in his black fatigues, devoid of rank or any other identifying insignia, and checked through his pack one last time while he waited for the others to arrive. They'd been tasked with slipping in and taking Gul Prener of the Obsidian Order into custody. This wasn't the first mission like this he'd been sent on, but, it was the first mission like that that he was going on with these officers. He stood up and tossed his pack onto a nearby seat and looked over the deck, he'd selected each of them because he knew what they offered, his nervousness was more to do with half of them outranking him. Moore shook off his thoughts and smiled as the first of the group started to arrive.

Michael received the order to assemble on the shuttlebay. He was dressed in standard fatigues, considering the mission. "Senior chief."

Neil had commandeered a work table along side of one bay and was double checking his load-out. Since he wasn't leading, he'd opted for a more support set of harness and equipment. Breaching equipment, satchel charges, non-lethal grenades, and an assortment of tools were tucked away around the house-breakers harness he was wearing over his body armor.

Over all that, he was wearing a black mottled poncho with a hood that broke up his shape and was were of a material that screwed with electronics suggesting to any scans that there most likely was a cardassian male under the covering.

Tucking the whisper mike into his ear, he had the computer run checks over everything and finally decided he was ready for the dance. Picking up his favored carbine with underslung munitions launcher and checking the sling, was the final item on his checklist.

It was time to go to war.

Well, he amended to himself, whatever this was. Helping the Cardies take back their own planet wasn't war. It was...politics by other means?

Sounded a lot like war. But then, he was a simple man with simple viewpoints.

Mina was just like most of her lift, on time but not by much, Showing up with her kit. Complete with the alterations and missing insignia. "Good.. Ugg morning I suppose. Well time to go to wurk aye fellers?"

"it's defiantly morning," Neil said with amusement in his voice as he joined the team members that had started to gather. "And another wonderful day in the Corp. Nothing like a field trip with the Fleet to clear your sinuses."

Realizing what he'd said, belatedly, Neil stopped further comments and did another equipment check while waiting for the word. He was chaffing at the bit, so to speak, and wanted to get the show on the road.

The gunny sergeant moved up to Niel's right shoulder. "aye what's th' plan? Ah Mean Ah ken waur gonnae in tae.. stabilize a situation, but other 'en 'at we dornt ken much."

"Chief. What are the rules of engagement?" asked Paul.

Jenn walked in to the shuttlebay. Straightening her black fatigues. She had some compliments on the way over, she looked good in everything black. She just didn't find it flattering at all, it was mostly functioning. She had a standard holster with a hand phaser and a holster with her tricorder. She put a back pack on with a standard kit of tools. She didn't say much as she walked to the shuttle. She just nodded to Moore. "Sir!" And she nodded to everyone else already there.

The trill pilot was next to enter. She was wearing a black flight suit without any insignia with nothing, but a replicated civilian issue phaser clipped to her leg. Walking over to the group she nodded politely.

Michael looked at the trill pilot and smiled.

The trill pilot returned Michael's smile as she ran her fingers through her hair. She was nervous about this.

Moore greeted everyone as they entered and looked around the group as the question was asked, "ROE is no unnecessary contracts, this is strictly snatch and grab," Moore explained, Once we have the Guy our secondary objective will be intel acquisition," he added and gave both Paul and Jenn a nod, "questions, comments or threats of bodily harm?"

"What if we don't know what Intelligence looks like?" Neil asked innocently.

"Of course a Marine would ask that," Andrew replied with a grin, his tone jovial only joking with the Lieutenant, "consider everything intel, Masters and her department can sort it out later."

"Everything, Chief? Then me and the gunny should just rack our gear and stay on the boat?" He asked, grinning and gesturing to the shuttle with his thumb. "If everything intel, we might just get in the way."

Andrew Grinned, he liked the Marine, "well, sometimes intelligence gets in the way, that's where you and the Gunny come in," he replied, feeling more comfortable with joking knowing Tremble was joining in.

Giving a stage sigh, Neil glanced around and said, "Right. I was just thinking of an old saying that War is a mere continuation of policy through other means. Once again, we are the other means."

"That being said, he continued," grinning to those who were gathered around, "I prefer the old saying that anything worth fighting for, is worth fighting dirty for. If we can't avoid contact, then make them wish they'd kept their noses out of our business. Especially when we come into contact with the Order. Shoot first, shoot last and shoot some more. We'll sort things out after that but don't let them take momentum out of our assault and don't think they have our scruples when it comes to killing."

Mina gave a nod, while attaching and adjusting a over sized snope onto her phaser rifle, a older model mostly used for longer range shooting now. "Aye, me mum always said that Fair fights are for suckers."

Neil shut his mouth again, then and gave Andrew a sheepish look, "Sorry Senior Chief. Habit. I didn't mean to blather on when this is your show."

"Yes, it is, but you still said it well," Moore replied with a smile, "alright, mount up and lets get this going. Miex, I need a quick word," he said and motioned the helm officer to the side.

Jenn just observed the conversation quietly. She then looked back at her pad. "Trust me when I say, you'll know when you get to intell. But to be honest, a secret recipe for Cardassian cookies I definitely consider as intell." She gave a playful grin. But she knew that's why she was here. To determent the value of intell.

At the Intel Warrants words, Neil gestured toward the waiting hatch of their shuttle with one thumb, "No one said anything about Cookies," he complained. "Lets get this show on the road!"

To Jenn, he then said, "See. You Intel types always keep the good poop to yourselves. Now I know why we're really going." As he turned he winked to his gunnery sgt. "We probably were supposed to bring the milk. So, if this turns out to be something other than a milk run, they'll blame us."

After Andrew spoke to Miex, asking her to volunteer any information she or her sybiot may have as the mission progressed, he moved over and walked up the ramp, slapping Cornelius' shoulder, "of course I will, what's the point in having Marines along if I can't pin anything on 'em," he asked with a grin, "and if we do find that recipe you better make me a batch, Masters."

Undisclosed Location Somewhere On Cardassia Prime

"Gul we have confirmation the USS Pioneer is in orbit. She is on station keeping and armed for battle. The CDF is with them and it seems that the Federation is taking the lead in this onslaught." A Cardassian female spoke up from her station.

"Excellent my daughter, then all is going as planned. Expect the Pioneer to be transporting teams down here within moments. When that occurs it will be, as humans put it, show time." Typhon Prenar beamed all of his planning, and waiting came to fruition today. First the Pioneer and the rebirth of the Order, then my blemish will be executed. he thought.

Gul Prenar still wore the uniform of the Order, his Order, the rightful Order. As much as he would hate to admit he would not be this far along in his plans if it were not for the True Way. However, there was one final rather large loophole. And now it was time to close that up. "Shoshanah activate our operative on Empok Nor. It is time we got the Pioneer's codes and shut that fly down."

Shoshanah Prenar a rather striking, young Cardassian female was manning what would equate to a mission operations station. She too wore the uniform of her father's order and it was said resembled her father as well. She too had the striking green eyes, a recessive trait in her father's bloodline. Also one that she shared with her half brother, a sibling that she longed to be rid of. The most striking feature of Shoshanah's face was her nose. She had her mother's nose, a Bajoran nose and it was one that she hated.

"Aye sir... Sending trigger codes now." She relpied with a snakelike smile.

Aboard Empok Nor Lieutenant Commander Calvin Quaid took the short time off that he had been granted to play some Dabo at Zulgs. As the Stategic Operations Officer on the station he had been made aware that the USS Pioneer was about to assist Cardassia Prime on humanitarian grounds. Something there never made sense to Calvin. However, this was the calm before the storm, before the time that he would have to watch the big screen and hope that there would be no casualties.

A small amount of cheering came from the Dabo girl as Calvin had won without paying attention. As Calvin places another bet on the wheel a small display screen began to play a jingle. Two little Asian looking girls appear and begin to sing:

"Fruity Oaty Bars
Make a man out of a mouse
Fruity Oaty Bars
Make you bust out of your blouse
Eat 'em all the time
Let 'em blow your mind
Blow your little mind
Fruity Oaty Bars
Fruity Oaty Bars"

This jingle simply repeated twice and then the ad ended. Calvin could not take his eyes off of it. Without another word he rose and headed for Station Ops, he didn't even look over his shoulder when Zulg shouted that Calvin had won the jackpot. A moment late Calvin transmitted the prefix code and shield modulation for the USS Pioneer, what made matters worse was that he did not know he even did it.

On the other end of that transmission Gul Prenar smiled broadly. "My daughter inform the Admiral that he may engage the enemy..."
