Mission: Episode 6 - Old Habits Die Hard
Location: Ó Flannagáin Quarters
Timeline: MD004 1800 hrs

Ameri did some finishing touches on dinner. She wished Quinn was back, she missed him and so did their daughter.

“Enya!” She called out. “Come and set the table for dinner.”

Enya was a little annoyed with her mother, she did not want to set the table. She knew better, than to argue with her mother. She left the sofa, and put down the data pad she was watching. She started to walk over to the table. "Yes Mother." She said, as she arrived to the table.

“It is a family tradition,” Ameri smiled at her daughter. “Having to set the table, I hated having to do it as well but just remember someday you will have kids and then you can get your revenge.” She smiled and was lied over, helping her daughter.

"Revenge you say, aren't we better than that Momma?" Enya said, seeing what her mother would say to that, as she slowly walked over to the table. Dragging her feet a little bit.

Ameri laughed. “It also teaches you to help others. Your poor Dad is so tired from a long day of work, if we work together he can get some rest.” She almost laughed at her own words. “He isn’t as young as he used to be you know.”

"What are you saying Momma? Do we need to baby him now?" She asked, with a confused look on her face. She was not sure, where Momma was going with this chat, they were having.

“I was joking,” Ameri shook her head. “I wanted to ask a favor of you.”

"What's it gonna cost me?" Enya asked, with a little snark in her voice. All favors came with a price, or so Enya thought. Typically in her eyes, it meant I want you to do something, you are not going to like.

“I want to take a self defense class,” Ameri explained. “I wanted you to take it with me. Something we can do together.”

"Why?" She asked, with a confused look on her face? Taking a defense class, where they in danger?

“For fun,” Ameri sighed. “I’ve always wanted to be able to defend myself and I want to spend time with you outside of our home doing something together. What interests you?”

"Being around kids my own age!" Enya said, a little coldly to her mother. "Seeing how that is not gonna happen, I suppose we can do this self defense thing." Enya said, while shaking her head.

Ameri shook her head. “I’m trying, Enya. Would you rather learn to play racquet ball or tennis?”

"Lets do the defense thing." Enya said, as sat in her seat sulking a little bit. She was not very excited by the idea. But she could tell her mother was. And she would do it for her.

Ameri looked at Enya. She had started this and had yet to talk to Quinn about someone who could teach them. Enya looked so unhappy, she was concerned for her. Maybe this hadn’t been her best plan but she would hope that Enya would take an interest.

"Do you think the marines could teach us, self defensive?" Enya asked, she had seem them o the ship, but they ignored her most of the time.

“I think they could,” her mother nodded. “I will ask your father and see.” He was damn well going to if it made Enya smile again.

"Thanks Momma." Enya said, with a big grin on her face. She knew very little about the marines. She was not allowed on the marine decks of the USS Pioneer.

Ameri was determined to get Quinn to agree, just from the smile on Enya’s face. Just as soon as they had dinner and retired for the night.

"When is father coming home?" Enya asked her mother? She hated when her father left for dangerous missions.

“Soon.” Ameri said with a smile. She would not let her daughter see her concern. “Let’s eat and I will do the dishes, then we can watch a movie together, your choice.”

"Okay Momma." Enya said, hoping soon, would be coming real soon. She hated him being gone. The scene starts to fade.
