Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: Sickbay - Deck 5 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD009 1000 hrs

Now that Katherine Malbrooke was permanently assigned to the Pioneer, she dutifully went to sickbay to get her physical on record. She had a lot of plans for the near future, and being healthy was important to achieving them.

She walked into sickbay, hoping there was someone available.

Hermia saw the red haired woman enter Sickbay. She put down a PADD containing the latest requisitions and went to meet her.

"Good day, Commander, I'm Dr. O'Rourke, how can I be of assistance?" She asked by way of greeting.

"Hi!" Kat smiled at the doctor. "I just transferred to the Pioneer and need to get my physical. Are you available?"

"Yes, take a seat." Hermia said indicating a nearby biobed. "Can I have your name, so I can bring up your medical records?"

"Katherine Malbrooke," she said, sitting where indicated.

"Oh, are you related to the Captain?" She asked bring up Katherine's medical records on a nearby terminal.

"Only by marriage." Kat grinned. "I'm his wife. Until very recently, I was stationed on Empok Nor."

"Come to keep an eye on him?" Hermia asked.

"No. Just tired of a long-distance marriage." She smiled at the doctor. "How long have you been on the Pioneer, Dr. O'Rourke?" She was curious and it was a way to get to know a bit more about the doctor.

"Just over a year." Hermia said. "My previous assignment was CMO aboard the Shanghai. Its nice to not have to worry about running a department and just get on with my work." She said. "So what did you do on Empok Nor?" The doctor asked.

"Assistant Chief Engineer," Kat said. "It kept me busy. I'm looking forward to having more free time and less paperwork." And hopefully starting a family, but she knew that could take time.

Hermia skimmed Kat's medical records. "Anything new since your last physical, you like me to know about?" She asked after a moment.

"No." She hesitated for a moment. "But I do have a question. Is there anything that would prevent me from getting pregnant? It's something we're considering and I'd like to know in advance, just in case." She looked at the doctor. "Please keep this confidential. As I said, we're only talking about it."

"Looking at your record, there doesn't seem to be anything that would prevent it, but I'll do some scans concentrating on that, and we'll know more after we have those results. As for keeping this confidential, I took an oath, as long as you don't have a disease that will threaten the crew, I can not discuss your case with anyone, not even the captain, without your permission." Hermia said.

"Thanks. I don't think Tyler would appreciate the crew gossiping about his personal life." She smiled. "Especially if it takes us a while. And in the meantime, I'm looking forward to meeting people and becoming a real part of this crew."

"I understand wanting to keep your personal life personal." Hermia said. "Now lets begin your scans so you can continue meeting new people, shall we." Hermia said.

Kat chuckled. "Yes, ma'am."

Hermia smiled when she realized she sounded like a stern dorm mother. "Sorry about that, still used to treating Marines, I guess." She then took the medical tri-corder from her hip and began scanning Kat.

It didn't take long. "Okay, every checks out, for now." She said after consulting the results. "I'll take a blood sample and then you can be on your way."

"All right. Thank you." Kat smiled.

Hermia grabbed a blood kit and took a blood sample from Kat. "Okay, you can go now, I'll contact you if your blood sample brings up any problems."

"Thank you." Kat stood and smiled. "For both the physical and the conversation. It was very nice meeting you." She liked the doctor and would definitely come back to see her in future.

"You're welcome," Hermia said with a smile. "It was nice meeting you too."
