Heidy was feeling quite pleased with herself up to this point, as she strolled up to the dock that the Pioneer stood at, Empok Nor was different to say the least and provided a few points of interest to what would have been a ordinary walk from dock to dock. She passed on to the ship with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation combining to tie a metaphoric knot somewhere in her mind or stomach, she couldn't quite work out which at the moment, she'd had a level of success first time out in her current role, but this was a wholly new environment and much further out, time would tell.

She rode the turbolift to deck nine, and strolled through the corridors offering a smile to any gold collars she passed along the way, recognising she might well be paired with them in the near future and it didn't hurt to make a good impression.

Thumbing the door control and waiting for it to slide to one side, then strolled into the office, catching siget of a male officer she made her introductions. "I assume Ive made it to the security chiefs office? One of your new kids sir, Petty Officer Heidy Dilucca."

Larim turned around and regarded the newcomer to his office. Not one on too much formality he answered in his usual socialble, quirky self. "You assume correctly." he smiled. "Lieutenant Larim Myles." he said, still smiling.

"Have a seat?" he asked

"Thanks." She stated responded taking a few more steps inside and towards one of the desk chairs and seating herself, pleased to note the chief was, apparently not to formal, for the moment. "Good to put a face to the name, finally."

"Likewise." Larim said. "Can I get you anything?" he said motioning to his replicator.

"No sir. But thank you." She responded after a glance in the general direction and then a shake of her head. "I got to say, it seems an interesting area for the ship to be strolling around in." She commented with a wry grin, a grin brought on by her assumption that an onlooker would comment that it was a dangerous area and not the best use of ships and persons, a point that attracted her to the assignements all the more.

"That it is" Larim grinned. He got himself a coffee. "That's what makes it fun." he smiled.

"I tend to agree, what's the point in being out in space if we don't go right to where we are supposed to be." She stated honestly, before jumping straight to what was on her mind. "I suppose that being me to two questions. Why do I need to know? And what do you need to know about me?"

"Well, just to hit the basics. Married, one kid. Started as lowly SO and worked my way up. Most recently attached to the Academy before being offered my promotion here." Larim said.

"Tell me about yourself?'

She sighed inside at this question, not intending to have the conversation go this way quite so soon. She shrugged and answer broadly. "Well I started in science believe it or not. Started a family, that was taken from me by a ship board accident. That started a wayward and self destructive spiral, some very good people intervened and stuck me in Security, kill or cure I guess." She said, throwing up a smile. "I'm still here so it didn't kill, jury's still out on the cure I think.

After a pause and holding her smile for a moment or two she tried to move away from this line of conversation, back to a safier if more boring ground. "But I was thinking more in terms of how you have me fitting in with the current department setup. I'm expecting my usual home to be the Brigg block which is Deck 6, I believe?" She partly questioned, having not looked up where it was and just taking a stab at a deck and waiting to be corrected. "Is there anything else I need to be aware of, sir?"

"Indeed." he said. "And its Deck 9." he smiled. "I was thinking yeah, primarily the Brig. But if you see an opportunity to do something else, or you have an idea. Feel free."

"Ah Deck 9, thank you sir." Heidy responded to the correction of deck location without fuss, she thought for a moment about the following statement by her chief and added. "Well I like you consider me available to cover any roster shortages I'm currently qualified for. Also I know from experience that brig consoles are well connected to the wider security systems, how about I be a back up of a back up when it comes to dealing with internal security and intruder containment issues, your thoughts?"

'Love it!" Larim said. "Makes a lot of sense. Extra backups never hurt. Just in case we get compromised. Go for it."

"Thank you. I'll get to work on that as soon as I'm settled in." Heidy answered with smile, noticeably pleased with her new boss enthusiastic reaction. "If there's nothing else sir, I'll get out of your hair and carry on with the usual treadmill of tasks for transfers."

"I look forward to seeing it in action. But I'll let you get squared away." he smiled. "Dismissed." he said
