Mission: Episode 11 - Family Matters
Location: Officer's Mess Hall - Deck 2 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 1245 hours

Richard just needed to find a way to seek some respite from his thoughts. Things hadn't been going well for him with the murder of one of his wives, the kidnapping of his daughter, the separation from another of his wives, and now the relinquishing of control sickbay. Any of them alone could be overwhelming but to have this trifecta of tragedy felt like a perfect storm.

He stepped into the mess and walked towards the replication unit and froze there for a moment unsure exactly what to order as if it was his first time and had no idea what was available.

Larim came into the mess hall not too long afterward and he too was looking for a brief "recharge snack" as he called it. And truthfully to clear his head from wedding mode. So when he rounded the corner and saw Dr Ballston his eyes lit up.

"Hey Doc." He said as soon as he was in speaking range.

"Commander," Richard said giving the man a smile, "How are things?"

" Can't complain I guess." Larim replied."How are you? Haven't talked in a while, Doc"

The physician smiled broadly as he picked up his tray, "overall not so bad."

Richard was trying to find the positive in the situation, "Abigail is safe and we're moving on together." There was a hint of positiveness in his speech but it was still obvious he was hurting, "What about you Commander, everything going well?"

"So far. " Larim said. "Glad to hear she's safe, Doc. Must be a relief." He smiled as he replicated a ham sandwich. "And call me Larim please. Unless an admiral is around or something." He chuckled.

Richard chuckled, "I'll keep that in mind, Larim and yes I am really glad to have Abigail back, physically at least."

"Physically? What's up, Doc?" Larim asked as he took a sip of the coffee that he ordered.

"She believes I had Adibah murdered," Richard replied with a heavy sigh, "she's finally in counseling but I hate that were's so disconnected."

"She believes what?" Larim said."Wow. Well thats definitely something." Larim added. Truthfully he didnt know what to say, so he kind of patted his friend on the back.

"Prisoners often start believing what their captors tell them," Richard replied with a sigh, "but things will improve I'm sure once she can wrap her mind around what happened."

The physician began walking over to a table carrying his tray, "Fahli' taking some big risks, she's trying to investigate what's going on what the Azzian Board of Health."

"And hows that going?" Larim asked, walking not too far behind

"I don't know," Richard admitted letting out a deep breath as he slid into a booth, "I'm actually afraid to contact her seeing she's in enough danger without my contacting her about it."

"Personally, Id rather know, than not. Because if it were me my mind would be spinning with all kinds of scenarios" Larim said. "Perhaps I can contact her for you?"

"That would be fine," Richard replied with a smile, "I think my daughter would sleep better as well."

Taking in a breath of relief the physician nodded, "if I can help, in any way, Commander, please let me know."

Larim nodded back. "Sure thing Doc." He said
