Location: Various
Timeline: MD007 1100 hrs

Ameri had just finished up at her desk and headed to Katherine's office. They hadn't gotten together even for a cup of coffee in a while. She missed their talks and hoped that Katherine would want to hang out with her.

Ameri had already spoken to Tyler and he had cleared it for them to take the afternoon off. Ameri was hoping they could go to the station and do some shopping and have dinner. She stopped at Katherine's office and rang the buzzer, waiting for an answer.

Kat was still sifting through computer files. The programs she, Ameri, and Jayna had worked on were doing their job, but there was still so much to sift through in case anything else was hiding in one of the subroutines. "Come in," she called, sitting back and stretching.

“Hi,” Ameri said with a smile. “You look like your in need of someone to take you away from all of this for the afternoon.” She waited to see what Kat would say. Would she pick up in the hint?

Kat raised an eyebrow. "Is that an offer?" As much as she liked the work she was doing for Quinn, she did miss working with others.

“It is,” Ameri smiled. “We have the rest of the day off and I was hoping you would want to go the base to do some shopping and dinner. Quinn said he would invite Tyler over.”

"That sounds like an offer I can't refuse." She grinned, saved her data, and logged out of her computer. "I haven't been shopping in months. What do you have in mind?"

“I honestly didn’t think any further than heading over there,” Ameri confessed. “They do have a lingerie store I want to go to but other than that I am open.”

"No problem. Exploring will be fun." Kat came around the desk. "I am yours for the rest of the day."

“Do you want to stop by your quarters and change before we go?”
Ameri asked her. She had changed already.

"Yes. Being anonymous for a day would be nice." In no time the two had stopped by the Malbrooke quarters and Kat had changed into a pair of comfortable jeans and a blouse and was ready for their outing.

“I need a woman’s day where we just spoil ourselves,” Ameri said. “What do you think of going to a spa, getting the whole treatment? I could use a haircut as well.”

"You know, I can't remember when I last went to a spa--although I'm not sure I should get in a hot tub. Ty and I are trying to have a baby." She was waiting until she had a reason to check with the doctor. She didn't want to take a test every week as it would stress her out too much. It would happen soon enough, but for now, she didn't want to take any chances. "A massage, on the other hand, would be wonderful."

“I was thinking more of a massage,” Ameri nodded. “Just be spoiled for a bit.” She smiled at Kat. “I can’t wait for you to share the news that you two are going to have a baby!”

Kat grinned. "Between you and me, neither can I!" It had been a dream of hers for years, but with her career and Tyler's, the timing had never been right. Until now. "A massage, shopping and dinner sounds like a perfect day."

“Let’s go!” Ameri smiled as they headed out for their day together. She had missed doing things like this.

Kat was surprised how much lighter she felt as they made their way to the station. "I'll let you decide if we go shopping first or we hit the spa." Both sounded great and she really didn't have a preference.

“Let’s shop,” Ameri said. “Then we will be ready for the massage and afterwards feel all refreshed. “I want to go to the lingerie store for sure.”

"Perfect. I should get something now while I can still fit into it." Kat checked to see where they could find lingerie. "I wonder if they have maternity lingerie?" She'd been doing a lot of reading about what to expect and had no intention of being celebrate for nine months or more. As always, the promenade was busy. They followed the human traffic patterns until they came to the small shop.

“I am sure they do,” Ameri nodded. “We still need to feel attractive even when we’re close to delivery. Let’s go see what we can find you.”

She definitely wanted to feel sexy when she looked like she'd swallowed a watermelon. "Don't be surprised if I stop by your office on a regular basis to ask you questions," Kat warned her friend. "I'm more nervous about this than I was finals in the Academy." She walked into the shop and stopped at a display of lingerie in a variety of colors. "They do have a nice selection."

“You can come by anytime,” Ameri grinned. “I want to be here for you.” She glanced at what Kat was browsing. “Oh yes, Quinn is going to love that.”

"Thanks." Kat pulled out a hanger. "This would look great on you."

“I am buying it,” Ameri grinned. “Tyler and Quinn are going to send us shopping more.” She laughed softly.

"You wear that, Quinn will definitely want you to do more shopping." She grinned and turned back to the rack. She found a color that matched her hair and pulled it out. "This, I think." She checked the size, put it back, and pulled out another in the same color. "Okay, this. It's hard to match my shade of red." She grabbed a hover cart and put it inside. "Now, let's see what they have farther back."

Ameri grinned. “One can never have too much!” She walked to the back and pointed out for Kat. “There is a maternity section right over there.” She remembered Kat had asked her earlier.

"Thanks!" As she suspected, it was in an out-of-the-way place. Didn't matter to her. If all went well, she'd be pregnant in the next couple of months and something that made her feel sexy would be important for her morale--and probably for Ty's as well. She found the section with her size and began to look through the offerings. One, as she feared, looked like a tent. And to make matters worse, it was white, with lace frills. Ugh. She moved it out of the way so she didn't have to look at it and continued looking. In the end, she found three. One was in a gorgeous shade of blue, another was black, and the third was a dark gold. They would work for the last three months, maybe four if she was lucky. When they were safely stored with the other one, she went to look for Ameri.

Ameri held up her handfuls of items. “I need to stop!” She smiled. “This is my one weakness in life and if I am not careful I will buy out the entire store. It that Quinn would mind.”

"Although I don't think Quinn will mind." Kat grinned. "I should buy some maternity clothes, if we see any. I'll look while we head to the spa." She paid for her items and arranged for them to be sent to the Pioneer so she wouldn't have to carry them around.

Ameri and Kat shopped some more, picking up things for Kat to wear from maternity. On their way to the Spa, Ameri got a couple more dresses for Enya and a few things for Quinn while Kat looked for something for Tyler. Then, they headed to the Spa and spent the rest of the day catching up and having a leisurely day.
