Mission:
Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: XO Ready Room
Timeline: MD011 0815 hrs
Quinn sat in his office looking out his is window into the darkness of space, there is currently no space traffic on that side of the pioneer.
He sat there thinking today must have been a light traffic day oh, you know in a couple days they were going to be taken off into romulan space or near the border at least.
He was happy to be going but the same time he was a little nervous, all the changes that have been going around the pioneer and I might be a little too much for the crew to take.
Quinn wondered how they dynamic chemistry between the crew with change now that they had new body is on board oh, and where are they as adequate as the crew that they replacing?
according to the logs they all could perform their duty but there was more to running a shift than be able to perform your duty, and Quinn new that over the next few days he might have his hands full getting the new crew into shape. We hope for the best but he always expected the worst when it came to new crew rotations.
When you have another man who recently had a crew rotation of his own and a good friend of his, over the past three years he has had an influx of crew and his mission is changed several times he knew that he would probably be a good man to talk to.
Quinn open a subspace call darling and on the other end was Captain Harry Anderson. "Captain Anderson you old Sea dog how are you doing?" Queen ants with a big grin on his face.
Harry just smiled and choco the little as he looked Quinn,"what's it going to take get you behind the captain's chair?" Harry ass with a snarky grin on his face.
"I haven't turned down that many commands, and for your information I'll be heading over to your neck of the woods soon enough." Quinn said in snarky response of his on being purposely cryptic with his answer.
"Admiral Martinez is a hard man to turn down, you will discover that soon enough." Harry said, with a big smile on his face.
"I have discovered that." Quinn said, with a humbling smile on his face. He wondered if Harry knew, that he took a promotion. Well sort of.
"Great, when you coming over to Port Royale?" Harry asked, telling by his tone that the Admiral got to him.
"Two years my friend." Quinn said, with a big smile on his face.
"Two years, why the delay?" Harry asked, a little surprised to hear him say, there would be a big delay.
"I have some things to wrap up on the Pioneer, and need to get a new first officer in and settled before I jump ship completely." Quinn suggested to Harry. He did not offer a lot of information beyond what he had said.
"Two years though, surely you can get that done in a month, tops." Harry suggested to him.
"I could, but I have a few things I am still working on, two years will come before we both know it." Quinn pointed out to Harry.
"Did he say, what you were going to be offered?" Harry asked, curious what ship his good friend was going to get.
"No not yet, he did offer me command of the Zaoyang. But I turned it down." Quinn said, with a smile on his face. He did not want to command a ship, that was built for war only. He wanted to bring his family aboard.
"Commander Russ was recalled to Intelligence, she is a good ship. A tough ship." Harry said, with a big grin. "She is no vesta, but she will give the Vesta a run for her money." Harry said, with a big smile on his face.
"That might be, but I am interested in a family vessel, one of those vesta's would be pretty sweet." Quinn teased, with a big grin on his face.
"The Hangzhou is mine, find your own ship." Harry said, with a smile on his face.
"I am not how you managed to get three vesta class starships, the Juno, the Shanghai and now the Hangzhou." Quinn said, surprised that he was either that lucky, or really good at his job.
"There are aother great classes of ships are there you know." Harry said with a big smile on his face.
"If that is true, why do you keep commanding a vesta?" Quinn asked him, in a sarcastic tone. Knowing the answer is, the vesta was a premiere vessel, worthy of exploration and deep space assigments.
"Lucky I guess." Harry said, knowing he was full of it. Quinn had a point, and he really had no counter point to it.
"Is that what were calling it, luck." Quinn said, carrying forward his snarky and sarcastic sense of humor forward with him.
"I am curious, what type of ship the Admiral will offer me next." Quinn said with a nervous grin. He hoped it was something, he could travel on with his family.
"That Admiral is a reasonably man, no doubt he can find a ship for you and your family." Harry said, with a big smile on his face.
"I hate to be picky, but my family is very important to me." Quinn said, with a humbling smile on his face.
"He will be made aware of the request." Harry said, thinking to himself, that he may tell the Admiral personally of Quinn's situation. No doubt, the admiral already knew.
So he wondered, why the Admiral would do that, unless this was not the command he had in mind for Quinn. The admiral was a sly one. Always getting people to do, what he wanted.
"I am pretty sure the admiral did what he wanted too. Got you to agree to a command." Harry said, with a big smile on his face.
"I had the same feeling, offering me the Zaoyang, was not the ship he had in mind for me. He just wanted to create a scenario, where he could set me up for a command. This admiral of yours, is very crafty." Quinn said, with a humble smile.
"Well he will be our admiral soon enough. And I would suggest, you prepare for him. He is a hard man to say no too." Harry said, with a big grin on his face.
"Trust me my friend, I will be doing that." Quinn said, as the scene starts to fade away.
