I loved everything about this mission, from concept to execution it was an great example of what happens when a crew pulls together. First a general idea from Paul Michael sparked a what if kind of story in my head. You all ran with it like a torch and we had a nice spooky storyline for the Halloween season.

This mission saw the crew bond and the Away Teams presented some real Star Trek style scenes. We also introduced a new race, and who knows when The Silence will fall. Once again I feel the need to express how proud I am to have each and every one of you aboard this sim. These stories would not be anywhere near as good as they are if it were not for you all. So thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times thank you. You are my online family...

Promotions

To start things off we have a few promotions. These are earned through hard work and I am proud to hand out the extra pips when warranted.

Vaebn tr'Hwersuil - Vaebn is one of the original crew members of the Pioneer, he has been here from the beginning. The Science Chief is always a hard role to write in a sim as they can be involved in everything and nothing at the same time. Vaebn's tags are not only filled with interesting science, but they always give us a glimpse into who the man behind the sensors is. This Romulan is an interesting character and I am excited to see what is in store from him. For his great service to the Pioneer and it's story I hereby promote Vaebn tr'Hwersuil to the rank of Lieutenant Commander with all of the rights and privileges therein.

Elen Diari - Elen lends a nice dose of humor to every situation that they are involved in. A sassy technician is something that any Captain would want in their engine room. Diari keeps the Pioneer together and gets us home. I love this character and at times wish that I could read more from them. Diari reminds me of a Star Trek version of Kaylee from Firefly and I love everything about that statement. I hereby promote Elen Diari to the rank of Lieutenant with all of the rights and privileges therein.

Clarissa Rockwell - It is rare that an NPC character gets a promotion. However, when the character steps to the plate and hits a home-run one is deserved. Clarissa is a integral part in bringing the lower decks of the Pioneer to life. A starship is not just the bridge crew and Clarissa gives us that look into what "the other guy" does aboard the ship. I am particularly fond of the nervousness that she exhibits when asked to serve on the bridge. That definitely plays exceptionally well as a new officer. Along with this rank promotion I am proud to appoint Clarissa to the station of Assistant Chief Engineering Officer. I hereby promote Clarissa Rockwell to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade with all of the rights and privileges therein.

Lieutenant Ameri Ó Flannagáin - Captain's Personal Merit Award - "I have watched this character grow from an NPC concept into a full PC character. This writer balances the subtlety of being a wife and an officer very well. I also enjoy the way she balances being an officer who has to report to her husband. For this mission I would like to recognize Ameri for not only doing what she normally does. But, in the mission posts she added a sense of fear to the post that makes it enjoyable to read."

Warrant Officer Mira Jayna - Executive Officer's Merit Award - "Since coming aboard the sim, this officer has proven her worth to the sim. I can think of no one more deserving of this award than Jayna. She has really helped to progress the story and sub plot stories forward."

Lieutenant Elen Diari - Crew's Choice Award - "Lieutenant Diari has interjected an interesting twist on the standard Engineer. Her colorful background allows for compelling stories as she shares her writing skills with all of us."

"Elen Diari is an interesting and fun character to write with and read about. She is a great writer that can always add a bit of levity to any post. It is also enjoyable to learn when typically happy characters have a darker, seedier side. Besides who doesn't like a leggy blonde."

Warrant Officer Mira Jayna - Intelligence Prowess Award - "I, the Chief Intelligence officer of the USS Pioneer, would like to nominate for this award Warrant Officer Mira Jayna. She has proven to be a valuable asset and brought several intelligence cases to my attention. All that helped me significantly in my own work. I am happy she is on my team."

Warrant Officer Mira Jayna - Creativity Award - "I want to nominate Jayna for this award, because of the awesome sub plot story arc regarding the pirates in our holodeck adventure. This idea, has sparked several post entries, cataloging the crews holodeck adventure. This was a great sub plot, that brought the crew together to write."

Commander Quinn Ó Flannagáin, Captain Cornelius Tremble & Staff Warrant Officer Jennifer Masters - 100 Post Ribbon - "I would like to recognize these three members of the crew for their commitment to the story of the Pioneer. Achieving 100 posts is a great feat indeed. Keep up the great stories and the great writing."

"Jennifer Masters, is a remarkable writer. Rarely in sims, do you see players that stick around and get up to 100 posts. Not only has she done this, but she continuously impresses me with the level of detail and commitment to this character she writes. I am very happy to nominate Giang for this award."

Lieutenant Hermia O'Rourke - Departmental Service Badge: Sciences - "Lieutenant Hermia O'rourke has served faithfully as a member of the medical staff, the right hand as it were to Dr. Richard Ballston, the CMO aboard the USS Pioneer. During the writer’s time here, Hermia has managed to rack up an impressive array of awards. Many of her posts are character building giving us a glimpse into the life of a Starfleet medical officer outside of her regular duties. It is a pleasure having her aboard."

Captain Cornelius Tremble - Teamwork Ribbon - "Captain Tremble aka Shane is a phenomenal writers and a team player. Both writer and character are team work driven. They are both shining examples, of what it means to be a team work. You can always count on them to help move the story forward, and to close any loose ends. As of this nomination, Shane had over 136 posts, and I guarantee you, in the majority of them, he has shown his level of commitment and dedication to team work and to this sim as a whole."

The addition of Ameri was a great boon to the Pioneer and as CO I am overjoyed that they are part of this sim and this community. So on the six month anniversary of Ameri's joining the Pioneer I would like to recognize the person who brought her here."

Lieutenant Junior Grade Paul Michael - Most Improved Player - "Lieutenant Michael has taken a vested interest in the sim over the past mission. Not only adding to the main plot line in a considerable way, but adding his own unique spin on a side plot. I have enjoyed reading these additions, and watching the Lieutenant begin to grow. I look forward to seeing where the character goes from here. Keep up the good work."

To sum this mission up I would like to say that I am exceptionally proud of you all. You took a very abstract concept for a race and helped turn it into something viable in the Star Trek universe. So viable in fact that you can expect to see The Silence return for another episode down the road. I also love that that this mission revealed some interesting points on the various characters that were assigned to the mission. Tremble was great creating something interesting for our Marines to do that tied in with the general storyline.

You should all be proud and happy about this mission. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year! Let's make next years stories even better.
