Mission: Episode 12 - Risin' To Risa
Location: Empok Nor docking ring/ USS Pioneer Security Office
Timeline: MD011 1430 hrs

Ja'sol had arrived on the shuttle only a few hours ago. He had time to relax and enjoy a decent meal as he awaited the arrival of the USS Pioneer. Now he stood and watched through the window as The ship slid into the docking pylon. He made his way to the ship and checked in with security at the pylon entrance before boarding the ship. He followed the computer prompts and was soon at the security office. He walked in and looked about. " Hello, I'm looking for Lieutenant Commander Myles, I'm here with transfer orders and checking in for duty. "

Larim just happened to be at the station. He turned around and put on his best smile. "That'd be me." He said. "Welcome to the Pioneer, Lieutenant." He added.

Ja'sol laid the PADD on the desk, and then sat the two bags on his shoulder onto the floor. " My transfer orders sir, everything is in order I believe." He gave a slight bow. " I am here to serve, what is it that you would have me do? I am ready to go on duty now if that is what is needed. "

" first I want to say welcome to the pioneer. "Larim said. "Forgive me if I look a little frazzled. It was a busy week." He chuckled. "And I admire your eagerness. But first I'd like to get to know you a little. If that's alright with you" He smiled

Ja'Sol pulled up a chair and sat himself down. " So Commander Myles, What is it that you'd like to know about me? I believe that everything about my career is in my file there, Or is it more about myself as a person and where I come from? If that's what you'd like to know then I have no problem with that, I would be more then pleased to enlighten you in that aspect. " Said the Ja'sol with a grin.

"Yeah. Where you come from. Why you joined up. That kind of thing." Larim replied.

Tyler made his way to Security on Deck 9. He held a PADD that contained a set of orders that he did not like, even though they were given for a good reason. He exhaled sharply through his nose and rang the door chime to the Security Chief's office. When he was allowed in he put a smile on his face. "Just the two gentlemen that I wanted to see. I hope I am not interrupting anything."

"The more the merrier." Larim replied. "What brings you down here, Captain?"

"News... Both good and bad depending upon how you look at it. First off it seems that your transfer has been approved. Both you and Lax are to report to Lieutenant Commander K'Gunn and Gil Paret respectively for service aboard Empok Nor. Anything you wanna tell me Larim." Tyler said with a smirk. He thought a good natured ball busting was in order to send him off.

"Yeah Boss. It seems that Lax wants to settle down, so I'm elected to go with her." Larim smiled. "And you know Lax. She secretly outranks Admiral Janeway, or so she says"

Ja'sol kept his features unchanged as he listened in to the conversation. " So Captain Malbrooke, this is a rather unexpected development. I assume that you want me to go ahead with the assignment that you've given me, That and the other question I have is when does his transfer orders take effect? " Ja'sol asked with a bit of curiosity in his voice and wondering if he had days, weeks or mere minutes.

"Ja'sol I would indeed like you to continue with the investigatory assignment that I have given you. That is if you have room on your plate now that you are going to be serving as Chief of Security and Tactical on this ship. That is if you feel up to the task, you have some mighty big shoes to fill." Tyler said with a smile to the two men present. He knew that Ja'sol was a junior officer but Tyler was the type of Captain who liked to give people chances.

He turned toward Larim. "You know I would hate to loose you but a family is a good reason. Once my little one comes I will send you all the notes on being a Dad." Tyler was happy for his friend despite the sadness of leaving the Pioneer.

"I'll definitely need them, Cap." Larim said, also sad to go

Ja'sol thought as the two men talked. Thank you Captain Malbrooke I understand that I am acting chief of security until I'm dead or you find someone better. " He said with a nod. " And of course I'll continue the investigation Sir. The one thing I hate the most is an unanswered question, and this is a question that cannot go unanswered Captain." Stated Ja'sol.

"Larim make sure that you bring Ja'Sol up to speed on anything that has been going on before you take off for your new assignment. Ja'Sol I want to thank you for taking over in this most unorthodox way. I know it may have not been what you were expecting." Tyler spoke with a little empathy for the Eldoran, he knew what it was like to be thrust into a situation that you may have not been ready for.

Ja'sol just shrugged in response. " That's Starfleet for you Sir. Always be ready for the unexpected, Besides, life would be so boring if you knew what to expect all the time. If I can't take a little unexpected bump every now and then, then I'd in the wrong line of work Captain. I know I'm taking on a lot just coming aboard and still unused to the crew and normal routine, But I will do my duty as expected. " He said in a rather matter of fact tone of voice with confidence.

Tyler knew that since Ja'sol was new to the ship he would look at it the way he was. That it would be just business to him. However, Tyler hoped that in due time he would become part of the family. "Before jumping head first into the work take a some time to get to know the crew, perhaps you may find a family." He smiled as he hoped the Lieutenant knew what he was talking about.

Ja'sol gave a laugh and a grin. " I have served aboard several federation ships Captain Tyler, And the one thing I know that is true, even if your the most introverted person in the world on a federation ship family always finds you. " He mused a moment. " What was that old saying? All work and no play makes Ja'sol a dull boy? I will start getting to know the crew sooner then I expect. It seems federation females aren't shy about getting to know new faces aboard a ship. And I'll still have time to get to know the males during my work shift and various hobbies. I haven't been aboard a ship where family hasn't found me first. " He stated with a chuckle. " And I am far from being an introvert. "

"Well then that is better than expected. I am sure with that attitude you will find everyone in no time. Then if there is nothing else I will leave the two of you to get caught up on events as it were. Larim make sure you stop by before you and the missus disembark." Tyler said and then smiled with a nod to both ben. He felt as if he had bore witness to the passing of a torch as it were. They taught you in Command Training not get too attached to your crew. That sooner or later they would be transferred to another command. Yet, here Tyler was both excited to get to know the new member of his crew and saddened to see a member of his family leave.

" Well Commander Myles, I don't want to take to much of your time since your going to be transferring to the station. You've got your packing and what not to get moved onto the station, and if I should have any questions I can just come aboard the station and ask you personally. that and I still have to unpack myself. I guess this is a busy day for both of us, I still haven't even made it down to security to check the place out yet. " Ja'sol gave Liram a salute. " It must be exciting to be taking over a newer and larger command on the station. I promise you that I will take care of this department and serve both security and the ship well Sir. "

"Have no doubt. " Larim replied, returning the salute. "And of course. My doors always open. And call me Larim, please." He added

" Not a problem Larim. " Said Ja'sol. " If I have any questions I'll be sure to ask, So if you'll excuse me Larim I need to take care of a lot of business before this day is done. And it's been a pleasure meeting you. " He stated with a smile and turned to walk away.
