Mission: Episode 14 - The Poseidon Adventure
Location: Poseidon Station - Promenade
Timeline: MD005 2000 hrs

Thex grinned to herself as she walked the promenade of Starbase 50. Wearing her favourite black dress with a micro mini skirt she sure could turn some heads. It felt good to have some time off, let her hair down and not have to worry about the day-to-day of the ship. Stopping to look at the pottery for sale on one of the stalls she smiled to herself life was good.

Vura was looking around the Promenade, just enjoying the sights and sounds around her. Being a Deltan, such sensations were a luxury. Compared to those of Delta IV, they were muted...but any port in a storm.

Dressed in a V-necked red dress with an asymmetrical hem that emphasized her legs as she walked, the bald headed woman sashayed through the crowd, which parted as she passed. Her ears had large hooped earrings. Her neck had a long drooping necklace that plunged towards her bosom. Each wrist had three bracelets in alternating silver and platinum designs.

She caught Thex's grin and asked flirtatiously, "Is that for me?"

"The grin or the pottery?" Thex replied taking a look at the strange Deltan. She looked familiar somehow. Was she a member of the ship?

"Would 'yes' to both be an acceptable answer?" she countered. "Saying no restricts one's options too much."

" Then yes would be perfectly acceptable. " Thex said slipping a credit chit to the stand owner before handing the pottery to the Deltan. " Do you have a name? I swear I've seen your face somewhere," she asked politely.

Well, another one who is under the effects of Deltan pheromones.... Vura graciously accepted the pottery and then replied humored, "Seen my face? Where indeed? Perhaps you have met another Deltan woman, as I have never seen you? Not many of us get out and fewer yet have my taste. But yes, I do have a name and I suspect that you do, as well. What might that be?" she asked stifling a chuckle, knowing she purposely did not give her name.

"Thex. Thex sh'Zoarhi I'm currently serving on the Pioneer." The Andorian girl replied trying to place the face to a name where had she... "You must be Lieutenant Vura the ship's new Counselor. I remember your picture on the personnel effect boxes that were delivered," she said finally getting where she had seen the face.

Vura looked curiously at Thex, "I was not aware that Pioneer had a 'be on the lookout' list for new crewmembers.... And here, I was just thinking that you were the sort of Andorian that had a thing for Deltans...."

She clucked her tongue against the roof of her mouth making a small audible sound. "Well, seeing as we are going to be crewmates, tell me what you do on the Pioneer, Thex."

"I'm the operations officer. I remember seeing your face with your file when you personnel effects were delivered," The Andorian explained though her mind did give the woman's first question a pause. Were there any species she wouldn't mind being the playmate of or did she just have a thing for aliens in general?

"*THE* Operations Officer?" Vura asked playfully and then laughed. "Well, we cannot afford for you to get hurt or the entire ship would fall apart without you. It must be difficult not having any support and working around the clock. No wonder you're on shore leave right now." She gave Thex a pleasant smirk.

"Work hard play even harder as my old mentor once told me." Thex replied with a similar pleasant smirk." So Vura is there anything you want to do whilst on shore leave?" she asked.

"In particular, no," she answered simply. "I was waiting for the ship to come in and now I am just waiting for my personal effects to be transferred to the ship before boarding. Considering the ship will be away for some time, I am just taking in as much as I can before we are all locked away together."

Thex had to stop herself saying she wouldn't mind being locked away with her. Shaking her head slightly she did her best to clear it." The academy staff weren't kidding about your people's pheromones."

Wistfullly, Vura smiled at Thex. "Orions have nothing on us," she replied with an apologetic shrug. "But that is why we have to take the Oath of Celibacy. People have been known to go mad when they have relations with us. So, it is really for your protection. I certainly would not want to cause anyone harm."

"They really don't," Thex said speaking with experience from being exposed to Orion pheromones. Still breathing in slightly she ran an Orion beat through her head which started putting her brain back on track. "Can I buy you a drink? Would be nice to learn more about someone I'll be working with."

"I thought you would never ask," Vura replied with a pleased grin. "And getting to know more about you would be interesting, as well."

"So tell me about yourself Vura." Thex inquired as she lead the way to one of the bars.

The Deltan's body tightened for a moment and then relaxed. "There's not much to know. I told you that I will be the new Chief Counselor. I appreciate the arts and pottery, like you just purchased for me. Thank you again. I enjoy meeting and talking to others. It is a bit of a natural fit, don't you think?" Almost immediately, she followed it up with, "Tell me more about you. What brought you to Starfleet?"

"A desire to get away from my past. Far away from my past." Thex replied as she took a seat at one of the bar tables. " I was raised by Andorian doomsday cultist. Didn't even read till I joined the academy. One day I just ran and never looked back."

"That's awful. And you got away? And Starfleet took you in despite no ability to read? That's quite the story."

Thex nodded. "Left me with a distrust of other Andorians but I made it. I had a great mentor called Nainaa who managed to make sure my head was screwed on straight."

"Tell me about Nainaa. Who was this person and how did you get introduced?"

" She's an Orion operative in Starfleet intelligence. She meet me in a fighting club some of the cadets had set up. I was an angry young woman and she help me learnt to overcome it." Thex explained.

"An Orion teaching an Andorian to overcome anger.... Now that sounds like something that would only happen in a novel. I have to say that I'm truly intrigued Thex."

" Even more so with how she taught me to control my anger. Through the power of dancing." Thex said with a chuckle.

"I should have known!" Vura laughed, as if having an epiphany. "Orion dance.... Well, Thex, do you know how to ballroom dance? If so, I might allow you to take me dancing some night on the ship."

" I've never tried it, but I'm always up for trying something new. " Thex replied.

“Oh, that is music to my ears.” She traced a free hand across the Andorian’s cheek towards her chin. “So what dances do you know?”

"Oh, a few. I was a member of the cheerleading team at the academy and Nainaa taught me two of the Orion dancing styles. That of the animal woman which is the one they're most known for and the dance of the blade dancer. " The sapphire girl replied her antenna quivering with pleasure at the Deltan touch.

Vura smiled, pleased with herself and the Andorian's reaction. "I know of the first, of course; but, you will have to demonstrate for me the second. I have never heard of the dance of the blade dancer."

" I'd happily demonstrate it, but i'd need a holodeck. It's not something that I can do on the spot and it does need a partner. " Thex happily replied. She was always up for showing her dancing.

"Well, Thex, when I get myself settled in on the ship, there's a holodeck there, so we will just have to schedule some time and then you can show me what you're made of."

" I'm sure you will be most impressed. What about you Vura, what hobbies do you have?"

She's getting a little cocky, now, but that's alright. She has a comfort zone. "Well, you hit at least two of them. I like to dance and I do like pottery. I also create jewelry and I love to draw."

" Anything, in particular, you like to draw?" Thex inquired.

"Whatever strikes my fancy," she answered simply. After all, Deltan whims in terms of experiencing sensation were what they were.

" So anything tonight that you'd think of drawing?" Thex enquired her antenna moving forward slightly as she asked.

"Are you volunteering to be a subject?" Vura inquired interestedly.

" I'm always up for helping a friend with their hobbies," Thex said her antenna quivering slightly as she did so.

Vura giggled, noticing the antennae twitter. Deltan pheromones. The poor non-Deltans can't help themselves. "Very well," Vura let the words drawl languidly from her lips. "Once I settle in on the ship, I'll book some holodeck time and we can have some fun. What do you say?"

" Sounds good. " Thex said before a thought crept into her head. " After I get you to give my head a full examination of course. " She added knowing her latest psyc evaluation was due.

Amused at the effect her pheromones were having on Thex, "So anxious to be examined, are you?" she purred. "Well, if only I had a PADD here with me to schedule that.... But, I do have this lovely pottery. Hm. Perhaps we should go back to the ship and get that scheduled."

Thex gave a warm smile as she replied. "Perhaps we should unless there's anything else you'd like to see on the station."

"There are plenty of things that I would like to see here," Vura admitted. "But I do want to get this lovely piece of pottery back to my quarters, as well as my other belongings...." There was a mournful quality to Vura's voice.

" Well, then shall I lead the way?" Thex responded her antenna standing straight up as she did so. Those pheromones... How did anyone think straight while working with Deltans she thought to herself.

"Please," Vura responded politely, though not offering her arm. She already had her fun and who knew how long the pheromones would last on an Andorian.

Thex smiled as she lead the way back to the ship was in the station's drydock. It wasn't long before they were on the officer's deck. " And your quarters should be just here." Thex said as she stopped outside one of the doors.

"Wonderful!" she exuded. "Though, I probably need to check in at least with the quartermaster so I can set my passcodes and make sure my belongings have been transferred here." She bit her lip. "I guess that this might have to be the end of our time together today, Thex. But you will make that appointment with me, won't you?"

"Of course, I will. If your belongings aren't here just call me and I'll see where they've gotten to." the operations officer said her head still swimming. She needed a shower a long cold shower.

"Of course I will Thex. Thank you so very much for this gift and your time. I look forward to our next adventure."

Thex gave a smile before heading for her own quarters. She really needed that cold shower.
