Mission: Episode 14 - The Poseidon Adventure
Location: Sick Bay, USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD007 1300 hrs.

On:
Paisley had gotten a message from medical, requesting her presence. She'd answered back that she could come in after her shift, and they may as well do a full exam, because she'd "accidentally on purpose" forgotten to do her onboarding medical exam. She was fairly certain that Dr. O'Rourke was also going to give her a dressing-down for her...miscommunications with Turner earlier in the week. She didn't have time to coddle idiot men, though, and he HAD started it.

Still, she dutifully made her way to Medical at 1530, as agreed, a half-hour before her shift was actually over, but they were slow enough that PO Laxia and Ens. Idiot were fine by themselves. She really should try to be nicer, she figured, but part of it was that she mostly disliked males as a group, and a smaller part WAS a bit of attraction that might scare her. She wasn't sure yet. She should probably talk to Vura about it, and she owed Vura an explanation for her abrupt exit from dinner the other night, anyway. Maybe after this.

She rang the chime. "Dr. O'Rourke? Ens. F'Rar, reporting." Here went nothing.

Good afternoon, Ensign." Hermia said. "You missed your onboarding medical exam, and since most of the crew are on leave, I thought it was a good time for me to catch the stragglers."

Paisley nodded. "Good idea. Sorry for missing it; I've been busy." From the moment she stepped into the Engineering office, she'd been GOING nonstop. She basically ate, slept, and worked until now. "Do you need me on a biobed, or??" She asked, already stripping off her tunic to reveal an undershirt. Paisley wasn't graced with her mother's well-endowed body, unfortunately.

"I need you on a bio bed." Hermia said as she grabbed a medical tri-corder.

She nodded, and hopped up on the closest biobed. "Do I need to undress any further?" Sometimes she did and sometimes she didn't. She lay back, and took a deep breath, held it for four counts, and then let it out.

"No." Hermia said. "Just lie still."

Hermia activated the scanner.

"Anything I should be aware of that isn't in your medical records?" She asked.

Paisley shook her head. "No. I am pretty much an open book," she said. "I don't know how recent my psych updates are, though," she said. "I saw Vura earlier in the week but I don't know if she's had time to submit her report. She said I was in excellent mental health," Paisley said.

Hermia made a non committal sound. "You can tell me its none of my business, but the way you interact with Ensign Turner, doesn't seem a healthy way to help run a department." She said.

Paisley made a face, but remained still. "Luckily for him, then, that I don't RUN the department. I am just the temporary assistant department head until a replacement can be found," she said. "But at any rate, we run it just fine. HE was the one who began combatively. I simply answered in kind." She explained. Everyone was acting like she was some kind of senior officer. She wasn't. She had gotten stuck in the position because she was the most recent Engineer with enough time in rank and more than two brain cells to rub together. It wasn't a job she'd asked for, wanted, or could even DO that well. Her leadership skills needed polishing-she knew that. She had gone through the Academy, yes, but was TECHNICALLY still only a junior officer and, frankly, her interests were more in having fun and making money, and not really about command things.

"How was he combative?" Hermia asked as she read the data.

"Well, FIRSTLY, he PHYSICALLY hurt me when he ran into me because he cares more about his stupid precious computers than PEOPLE," she said. "AND THEN, he said I was lying about being the Asst. Department head. Why would I lie about that? AND THEN, that dumb thing about a "girlfriend" in a far off place? Please. I don't have any siblings but I've seen enough holoprograms to hear a lie when I see it," she said. "Anything of note, Doc?" She asked.

"Nothing out of order for, what's the fashionable term, oh yes Cajorian." Hermia said. "Your interactions with Ensign Turner, as you describe them, sound like misunderstandings to me." She said. "Maybe you could try to start over, and remember not everyone is as vivacious as you are."

That was a nice way to put it. "I will keep that in mind, ma'am. I will see if he's willing to talk to me tomorrow." She would do it today but she had things to do.

"Good." Hermia said. "Your scans are within required parameters. I'm giving you a clean bill of health." She added. "Unless you have any questions for me, you're free to go."

Paisley shook her head. "Not currently! Thank you! I'll see you next year." With luck, she wouldn't need Medical until her next yearly exam. "See you!" She flitted out quickly, glad to be done with it all. At least she was healthy, and that was really all that mattered. It was a small miracle, given how much liquor and junk food she'd eaten and drank on shore leave.

"Bye." Hermia said hoping that Paisley would take her advice.
