Location: Counseling Office - Deck 5 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD008 1130 hrs

Another day off! Paisley had plans, and that started with a visit to Vura. She really liked the Deltan-not just as a Counselor, but also as a friend, as a person. She dressed quickly, in a striped sundress and strappy, flat sandals. She had put on a bit of makeup because she had to do some shopping in the Promenade area, but not much-she never did, anyway, because it made her stupid lizard skin itchy. On went her earring, which she'd been wearing more and more, and a bracelet she found in her things but didn't remember buying. Her black hair was pulled back into a messy bun and tied with a two chopsticks. A quick glance in the mirror told her she looked ok.

She stuffed her ID and a bottle of water into a day pack, and headed out, putting on oversized pink cat-eye sunglasses as she stepped out of the Habitation area to head to Medical. Overkill? Yes. Still, she looked good, and she did not care if she didn't NEED sunglasses indoors. It was the LOOK, as far as she was concerned.

Finally, she arrived at her first destination-the Counselor's office-and rang the chime. She announced herself in a sing-songy voice. "It's Paisssssley," she said. "I'm coming in!" She peeked around the door, smiling, and then entered the office. "You've added more since I was in here last." She said. Was that a REAL plant?! She didn't know. She didn't wait for Vura, and instead, settled her lanky frame into the chair before taking off her sunglasses. "How are you?"

The Deltan was grateful that she did not have an appointment at the moment, with Paisley's entrance. Enjoy Paisley as she did, she would have to remember to lock the door when with a client as a precaution. Making a mental note to tell the computer to do that automatically, she smiled warmly at the Cajoran.

"Paisley! How good to see you. And look at you! Aren't you the most adorable thing today? A sundress, your earrings, and your hair done.... My goodness. Whatever shall I do with this person before me?"

Paisley chuckled. "Yeah, I have to do some shopping in the Promenade, so I dressed up a little. Anyway, sorry to barge in like this, but I had a couple things that I needed to say and didn't want to wait for an appointment because it shouldn't be that long. I hope I am not impinging on a client." She hadn't SEEN anyone else out there, but she didn't know if someone was late or whatever. "I am sorry for leaving so abruptly the other night. You opened up some old boxes of...things I thought were dealt with but aren't. I am OK, and it's not your fault." She paused to take a breath. "ALSO. I had an...interesting meeting with Dr. O'Rourke. She got to me about my interactions with Ens. Turner. Do you know anything about that?" She asked. Her tone was even. She wasn't mad, just had a suspicion that Vura had asked the doctor to speak to her.

"There's no need to apologize regarding last night," Vura replied, waiving her hand lightly and apologetically. "I should be apologizing to you. I had a feeling I was in dangerous territory and my curiosity got the better of me. I'm sorry, Paisley. I knew that you understood when you sent me another Diamondfire Rose, but still, I felt badly. Please forgive me."

She then tilted her head slightly. "You had a meeting with Hermia?" Vura blinked twice and her eyes screwed themself up. "Whatever for?"

Paisley smiled. "I am glad that it got to you," she said. "Never apologize for trying to help. I DO need to explore that...someday." She sighed. "Not today, though," she said. There wasn't time, and besides, she didn't WANT to.

Paisley broached the next topic carefully. "About Connor Turner. APPARENTLY, he cried to someone about how I was "soooooo mean" to him, like he's five and I stole his ball," she said, shaking her head in disgust. "We're grown-up people. He is going to sew discord, and I don't like it. I just was mad because I don't like people who lie. And then he said he WOULDN'T flirt with me. ME. Like...he'd LOVE it if I paid him attention like that!" She said. The hit to her ego had been the bigger issue, really. "A girlfriend in a far-flung part of space? PLEASE, Vura. We're both women, we know what that means. He said he didn't want to "BOTHER HER." You can't bother your own GIRLFRIEND. Anyway. I don't know what kind of idiot he THINKS I am, but I am NOT!" She huffed. "So if he didn't whine at you, it must've been HER he cried to. She's kind of a wet blanket, isn't she?!" Paisley said. She HATED that; her own personality was strong and she admired that trait in others. "If I overstepped by asking if it was you, I am sorry, but he seemed to be able to talk to you, even if he was going to shatter into a million pieces if he so much as LOOKED at you!" It had been fun tormenting him, though, standing super close to Vura and teasing him.

"Oh, gosh!" Vura started, trying to get her footing. "Where to start with this, Paisley...?" She put her index finger to her lips, thinking. "I think you both have misunderstandings that need to be addressed. I don't know, but I don't think that Connor was lying to you. I did not pick up any tell tale signs of hiding or misrepresenting in his body language. So, he probably thinks he does have a girlfriend, whether or not said person thinks he is her giflriend. And, I'm pretty darn sure that he did not think he was flirting with you. He's a pretty simple human, from where I was standing. I think women might scare him, Paisley. I did not interact with him much, so I only have to go on the few minutes that I saw you together. And who is this 'she' that you think Connor 'cried' too? The last I saw you two, you were heading to Hermia. Is that who you believe he talked to?"

She shrugged. "Well. HE might not have thought or even INTENDED to, but my Cardassian side definitely read the arguing as flirting. We do that. I always forget that the Humans don't flirt like that," she said. "And yes, by her, I was speaking of the Doctor," Paisley clarified. "So he's also a bit of a momma's boy-female doctors often represent the caring nature of a mother to men, you know." Paisley had once read a book by Carl Jung. It had been interesting, but Paisley was still a bit skeptical. "And there are no "misunderstandings!" At the risk of sounding like a child, HE STARTED IT!" She said, crossing her arms over her chest. "This is why I date women!" She exclaimed.

Vura smiled and visibly stifled a giggle. "Maybe you wanted him to be flirting with you." She shrugged lightly. "And you know that I adore you, Paisley, I do, but I don't get the impression that Mr. Turner could start much more than a computer control panel."

Paisley shook her head. "I definitely did NOT. I just wanted to finish my work to see if I could duck out early, maybe. We ARE on R&R, you know. I still have a couple of Romulans to make out with," she said. "He certainly can start problems, which is what computers cause, Vura." She was of the opinion that the world would be better off without so much reliance on computers-they were dumber for it. Yes, they were convenient but to what end? "ANYWAY. That's all I came to bother you about. Has he come to see you yet? I will put it in his chart to have him do so," she said, "for his onboarding session. Just try not to kill him, ok? He might be useful, someday, for SOMETHING." She shrugged. How much Latinum she'd give to be a fly on the wall for THAT session. "Unless one of the junior counselors would be a better option. Whether he likes it or not-or even if I like it or not, I AM the assistant department head and I DO need all of my Engineers to be on at a moment's notice. That includes myself and my boss." She looked to Vura for a response.

"You'll put it in his chart to see me?" Vura asked skeptically. "Are you certain that your interest in him is strictly professional? You're taking a great deal of care of him. Are you sure you're not staking a claim before the other women in Engineering do? Isn't this what you were telling me about at dinner?" She gave Paisley a knowing and sly smile.

"No. I just think it'll be hilarious to see his face when he sees the note there and you call him in. In fact, we could coordinate it so he's IN the office when you do," she let the smile she'd been holding in play at her lips. "That's all. Any of those ladies-or any lady or man from any department-is welcome. Before I shove him in a Nacelle without his precious computer, and make him find his own way back." She tossed her head a little. "What did we discuss?" She asked, feigning innocence. "My interest in 'helping' him is to keep my department from imploding," she insisted. "That's ALL. Besides, things might work out with the Romulan twins after all!" She said. "If you have lunch free, meet me on the Promenade and I'll tell you about it." She said. "In the meantime, I shouldn't take up more of your time since I came in unannounced and unexpectedly." She said, making a move to stand up. She didn't really WANT to leave, but she knew she needed to.

"You know, Paisley, it really is not fair that you can throw hair back like that," Vura announced. "It makes you look more glamorous. I'll never be able to do it." She knew that Paisley was avoiding the topic of Connor and probably was not being honest with herself, but Paisley would have to figure that out on her own. "But you know that I am always available for dining with you. Lunch would be great."

Paisely smiled. "We'll get you a fun wig, maybe!!" She said. "Ok, there's a little cafe there. They do a good Reuben!" She said. "Just send me a message and I'll be there," she said. "It's called Olde New York," she said, laughing. "What a weird name for a cafe, but it's fine. We can continue the chat then. I have to do some shopping; somehow, I ran out of socks and underwear, and I can't be crawling around a MAN without any of those things!" She laughed heartily. More like she WOULDN'T as opposed to COULDN'T. It was only now that she wished she had a tail so she could tease him MORE.

I wonder if I should see if I could find Mr. Turner and invite him along. It might solve a lot of problems or create a whole bunch of new ones. "If you're out of socks and underwear, the replicators can handle that, or are you looking for something sexy for a Romulan girl." She shook her head and said with a smirk, "No, you're doing it for Mr. Turner."

Paisley fixed her with the coldest stare. "Actually, yes, it's for the Romulans. I said I will tell you at lunch!! And Mr. Turner will never see my panties on-or OFF-my body." She said. "He won't even see me in regular clothes if I have anything to say about it!" She exclaimed.

"In fairness to Mr. Turner, I think he would faint to see panties on anyone that he was not involved with and he might very well do it the first time he saw them on someone. So, you might want to do that just to see his reaction. Could be fun," Vura teased.

Paisley laughed. "Well, he will just have to use his imagination as to what I wear under my uniform. Jokes on him, though, it's definitely not what he thinks it is," she said. Her only hang up about her body was that she wasn't well endowed, and on the skinny side-she needed to fill out some, but her breasts were a hopeless cause, she was afraid. Even still, it was a minor hang-up, and certainly hadn't stopped her in the past from enjoying some sins of the flesh. Or any other kinds of sins, for that matter.

"Do you think that Romulans would even APPRECIATE lacy underwear, or are they too logical for that?!" She shrugged. "See you..." she sang again, as she headed down the hallway, off to find the same swimsuit/lingerie/women's accessories shop she'd visited earlier when she'd first met the Romulans. Vura was correct-plain underclothes and things could be had from the general replicators, but she wanted something CUTE. She wasn't particularly well-endowed, and she needed SOMETHING to distract from the scales and her under-developed body. The hells of being half-Lizard!!
