Last time on A Romulan, A Carjoran, and a Gorn Walk Into A Bar Part I

Kaylara chuckled. "A good intel officer always knows, but I won't spoil it."

S'kaadaar smiled at the way the others interacted with each other.

Paisley laughed. "OK, then. Hopefully, I'll be able to find out before we leave!" She said. Their food appeared. "How about you, Kaylara? Weren't you invited?"

"No. All the Marines are invited, and some of the senior staff and civilians. I'm too far down the totem pole." Part of her was sorry she wasn't going, but part of her was glad to miss dealing with that much brass.

And Now The Continuation...

"I don't know if you're going to miss much," Jayna consoled Kaylara. Although she was looking forward to dancing with Neil. She stood and left money on the table for her drink. "And with that, I need to go. Enjoy your meals!" She bowed to the three women and headed for her quarters to shower and change.

"I'll probably hang out in a bar on Poseidon during the Marine Ball." Kaylara hoped she might run into a certain pirate, but wasn't sure if he'd be there again or not. "There's a great pirate bar on the station."

Paisley nodded. "I see!! Sounds like fun. I will probably just head back to my quarters and get some rest. I have duty tomorrow." She said, dipping into the Hesperat souffle. "Pirate, huh?? Don't think I will ask about that." She said, with a laugh.

"Hey, pirates can be a lot of fun," Kaylara replied. "So can pirate ships."

Paisley laughed. "I bet!! If he has any single friends, tell them about your new Carjoran friend," she said, with a wink. Anyway, enjoy your evening with your pirate," she said. "I haven't seen my bunkmate in a few days, maybe I should check in on her, too." She knew the other woman was out having fun but still, the fact that it'd been three days since she'd seen her was a TINY bit worrisome.

"I prefer monster movies, over pirates, I root for the monsters." S'kaadaar said.

Paisley laughed. "RomComs for me. Monsters hit too close to home. As do pirates," she said simply. "Besides, we all need a bit of fluff, right? We see so much," she trailed off.

"Agreed." Said the Gorn. "I don't understand RomComs, there are too many social interactions among the characters that confuse me."

Paisley laughed. "I will explain it you someday, but I do a lot of brain work in my regular day. It's nice to have an escape." Besides, the monsters she knew were blood related, and she'd rather not relive that. "But I can definitely appreciate a good action flick or scary movie. Especially one that has spooky stuff in it!" She was nearly half-done with her food. She really enjoyed the company, and hoped she was making some new friends.

"I enjoy action movies, but stay clear of horror movies, some of them hit to close to home." S'kaadaar said.

Paisley nodded. "I'll bet!! What else do you like to do?" She asked, draining the rest of her Kanar and ordering a second. She'd only have the two tonight.

"I am interested in military history. Earth history is my favourite." S'kaadaar said. "Though what I've been able discover about Andorian military history is a close second."

Paisley considered for a moment. "Well. As a Cardassian, I tend to avoid that, but Earth's history might be interesting!" She said. "I've been all over that planet, and even though it's a young civilization, they had a lot of interesting things." She said.

"They do indeed," Kaylara said.

Paisley just nodded. She'd run out of things to say. Instead, she thought she'd try for the personal. "So, you guys seeing anybody fun? Meet new people while we're all," she gestured around, "Intermixing on R&R/Shore Leave?" She asked. Nosiness, but also maybe something more.

"I find it difficult finding 'romantic' partners, as most Starfleet personnel are humanoids, therefore we lack sexual compatibility." S'kaadaar said. "It doesn't mean they can't be good friends though."

Paisley nodded. "I'd imagine so! I am sorry for that-it must be difficult. But I just meant in general, really. So many interesting people around. I joined about 6-8 weeks ago, so I haven't met too many people yet," she said. "Kaylara and Jayna, and now you, and the new Counselor. Oh, and a couple of cute Romulans the other night." She smiled a little. "And a new engineer, too!! Almost TOO many new people, quite honestly," she said. "Kaylara, are you seeing anyone here?" She asked, her head bent around S'kaadaar to see the woman.

"I met someone from the station," Kaylara said quietly. "His name was Stefan. Sadly, I don't think I'll see him again. Pity."

Paisley smiled sadly. "Ah, that stinks. I am sorry. I don't think it'll go too far with my new Romulan friends. I try not to get serious with people on R&R, anyway. We leave too soon and it's...messy." She'd learned that one the difficult way. "What kind of men do you like? We have a new male Engineer. I can introduce you," she offered. It'd do Connor good to mingle with folks, anyway. He seemed...shy.

Kaylara chuckled. "I like a man who's adventurous and has a backbone. Too many men get scared off by a Romulan or they're boring." She shook her head. "I agree that a shore leave romance can be messy. I didn't expect to like the guy as much as I did, so it's my own fault." and if he was as much of a lady's man as he claimed, he wasn't for her anyway.

Paisley laughed. "That's definitely NOT this guy, then! Never mind! This guy is afraid of women, exercise, and likely his own shadow. How he made it through Engineering training, I will never know!" She shook her head. "Maybe we should date each other!" She joked. Half-way; Paisley had a secret THING for Romulans but could definitely hold her emotions in check. "Anyway. You should find him, have a good time with him, and then leave him hanging. It'll be good practice for married life!" She laughed again. NOW she really was kidding. "You should ask the new Counselor; she's Deltan and attracts EVERYONE!"

"Really?" Kaylara raised an eyebrow. She knew of the new counselor, and that she was Deltan, but this sounded a bit...more. "That could make life on the ship rather interesting." She shook her head. "But no, I'm not going to show up at the door to his quarters. I'm really not sure if he'd be alone and that would be a little too awkward, even for me. Hey, a little heartbreak is good for the soul, right?"

Paisley laughed. "Ah, probably," she nodded. "Might as well get it while we still can, I guess," she said. "But yes, Lt. Vura is really nice," she said. "She'll be a nice addition to the ship."

Kaylara nodded. She wasn't quite sure what to add to either comment.

"A male Gorn tried to force himself on me, so I drove a girder through his chest." S'kaadaar said.

Paisley's blue eyes grew wide. "Good for you," she said. "I wouldn't stand for that, either." She said, empathetically.

"No. No one has a right to force themselves on another person," Kaylara added. "But I must say, that is an impressive reaction."

Paisley nodded. "Agreed." She took a few more bites of the Hesperat soufflé. "They make it really good here. It's EXTRA spicy," she said, savoring the last few bites. "How is your guys' food?" She asked. She realized she hadn't. How rude of her.

"It's good." Kaylara grinned. "Better than the replicator in my quarters." Sometimes she preferred a quiet evening, but she was enjoying the company.

Paisley nodded. "Well, anyway. You ladies were great. I am so glad to have met new people, but I have early duty tomorrow so I am going to turn in. I'll see you later!! I am around if you want to do it again!" She said. She put some money on the table, and carried her things to be recycled. She waved as she left the bar, heading off to the Habitation deck. She'd check in on her roommate later-first, she had a quick stop to make. She did her errand-dropping a note off at the Engineering office-then headed for her quarters.

Kaylara checked her chronometer and frowned. "Me, too. Yes, let's definitely do this again." She smiled at Paisley and S'kaadaar. "It was nice meeting you both." She finished her drink and rose to leave.
