Last Time on The Ladies Who Lunch Part I

"My father is a human, and I was born on Earth in a place called Brittany in France and was brought up there by my father. My mother was a Starfleet officer and was seldom home," Yvette said.

"But your mother borne you. I'm surprised she would let you have a Terran name." Vura said.

"My mother, T'Lisa Anderson is not entirely Vulcan, her mother, my grandmother, T'Mari Anderson is half human, I suppose it wasn't important to her, maybe her humanness coming through."

"It sounds like quite the history...."

"It is, perhaps, I can bore you with it later." Yvette said. "Suffice to say my family has had a long history in Starfleet."

And Now The Continuation...

"So, it seems. Do you feel beholden to that tradition? Why not do something else?" the Deltan asked curiously.

Yvette thought for a while. "I thought about being a teacher, like my father, but I don't have the temperament for it." She said. "My father is an English Literature professor at the provincial university." She added. "I also thought about acting, which I did get to do as a field agent in Intel."

Vura mused audibly, realizing that her question was not really answered. "You might still want to consider stretching your proverbial legs," the counselor answered.

"Do you have any suggestions?" Yvette asked.

"Well, you say that you do not have the temperament to be a teacher. What do you think that temperament looks like? Perhaps, together, we can help you develop what you desire."

"Patient, understanding, and nurturing." Yvette said making the last word sound like a swear word.

"And you think that you are devoid of those qualities?"

"Pretty much, yes." Yvette said.

"I disagree," the Counselor replied with a small hum. "No, I would have to think that you have never encouraged or allowed yourself to train those traits. They're there, if unused and unpracticed. I'm more than certain that I could assist you, if you desired."

"Okay, teaching practice, would help me to share my experience with the junior members of my department." Yvette said.

"Alright, then let us set up a session at my office and you can practice by teaching me."

El was surprised at the formality of it when she arrived, maybe jeans and a soccer shirt wasn't the best look, she put the books she'd ordered from the station's replomat on a side table and wandered over to the familiar faces of Hermia and Kat.

Kat saw El enter and went over to say hi. "Nice to see you," she said to the engineer. "How are you doing?"

"Great since Paisley left for the Lexington yesterday. Asked Leo, their CE to have a sit down with her. Hopefully, he'll tell her to calm it as my assistant before your little arrival gets here, or they might get the job" El pointed towards the bump.

"I haven't met her, but I've heard quite a bit--and none of it from Ty," Kat replied. He rarely spoke of the crew when he was with her.

"Yeah, haven't spoken to Big Ears about it don't want to hassle him unnecessarily- not been affecting running of the ship, so not his problem yet" Elen explained "if she starts hitting staff then I will".

Kat nodded. "Then he won't hear it from me."

Remira O'Malley, the new Assistant Chief Operations Officer was also feeling thankful to be included. She walked in wearing flowing black pants, and a shimmering mustard yellow top that complimented the Orion hybrid's muted green skin tone. She recognized Thex and Vura. The others were new faces. She worked her way over to her Andorian boss to say hello.

"Hey there. Anyone here that you think I should make a point to meet today?" she asked.

" Try saying hello to everyone. Always helps if you know as many faces from the ship as possible." Thex replied even though she had a lot of the faces to know the people behind said faces.

"You're right," Remy agreed. "There just so many people here, I haven't met yet - being new and all. It's hard to know where to start."

Zanna was less excited to be there, though she was happy to see Remira and her boss. She hadn't met anyone else yet, except the Counselor, who seemed to know EVERYONE. She walked into the Cafe, and sighed. She should've worn civilian clothes. She looked down at the teal and black uniform. WHY did she think it was going to be that kind of affair?! She quietly snuck over to the counter and ordered herself a lemonade. She carried it to the table and sat down.

Walking into the tearoom, Rachel just wanted somewhere quiet to sit for a while. After the last mission and her recent family revelations, she needed some time to rethink a few things in her life. One was her career in Starfleet, though it was more of a possible transfer rather than just straight up retirement, and the other was whether or not to change her name now that she knew what her original Romulan name actually was, or is. Seeing a group of the female officers from the Pioneer all sitting together, Rachel figured she would find a table away from them so her poor mood didn’t spoil their relaxation.

"Welcome," Zhara said, coming up to Rachel. "I'm glad you could make it."

Rachel looked up at Zhara with a look of confusion, “um, make it? Have I just crashed an organized party of some kind? If I have, I’m happy to leave, I don’t want to harsh anyone’s buzz”

"Not at all. This is an informal gathering and you are most welcome." The counselor smiled. "It's simply to get to know each other. I'm Zhara Rynn, one of the counselors on the Pioneer."

Alyssa Maren, the Pioneer's Chief Science Officer walked in wearing a deep purple sarong with lotus flowers on it and smiled at the number of women already present. She went over to Zhara and gave her a hug. "This is a great idea. Thanks for arranging it."

"It was my pleasure." Zhara looked around the room. "I'm glad so many women showed up."

Ellery Rosa walked in just then and paused. She wasn't sure what to expect, but this group of women felt a little intimidating--especially with a Deltan holding court in the center. Even though Ellery wore a simple silk dress in sapphire blue, she felt dowdy compared to the others.

"Hello," the counselor went over to her. "I'm Zhara Rynn. Welcome."

"I'm Ellery Rosa. I just arrived on Poseidon Station." She looked around. "I don't know anyone here yet."

"Lovely. You're in science, yes? Have you met Alyssa? She's the chief of science on the Pioneer."

Alyssa smiled, recognizing another telepath. "Hello. What is your field of study?"

"Archaeology, anthropology, history, and temporal science." It was an odd combination, but Ellery made no excuses for it.

"I studied the first three myself. I haven't done much with temporal science, though. I like learning about people and their cultures."

"Me, either, outside of Vulcan," Ellery admitted. "I studied temporal science there, but haven't actually put any of my knowledge into practice."

"I'm sure you will now that you're on the station." Alyssa spent several hours looking at the anomaly since the Pioneer arrived. "We should talk about our mutual interests later. I'd love to see your arboretum while I'm here," Alyssa said, moving closer to the other scientist to make it easier to talk.

"You should. Bri is also new to the station. She's our botanist." Ellery looked around, but didn't see Brianthe.

Alyssa smiled. "Great. I'll message you later. Maybe we can have lunch as well."

"I'd like that," Ellery replied. "I have plenty of time right now."

Brianthe Oaxaca walked into the room, dressed in a peasant blouse, embroidered velvet vest in dark green, and full, calf-length skirt in a matching green. She paused by a wall to have a good look around. She loved places like this that took the time to create an ambience. There were quite a few women here already so she looked around for a familiar face. When she spotted Ellery, she headed over to talk to her.

An invitation to a luncheon tea was something to be dressed up for, and Cara was feeling rather feminine in her outfit. It was a dark red dress, The top part had spaghetti straps, with a ruffle just above her breast, the decolletage giving a moderate view of her upper curves, with the ruffle off the shoulder. The solid skirt hit mid-thigh, longer piece was ruffled made of chiffon, with a split thigh it was made of a thinner material. It rippled as she walked. She wore white sandal heels which strapped behind the ankle, giving her an extra inch in height. Her glossy wavy black hair was loose and flowing and moved slightly as she walked. Cara also wore a simple gold choker around her neck, with a pair of clip-on earrings, which were gold as well.

She stepped inside and surveyed the scene, noting the gathering of ladies in one area. Walking gracefully towards them, when she neared Cara greeted them all. "Welcome to Starbase 50, otherwise fondly known as Poseidon Station. Just in case anyone may not know who I am," giving a teasing smile "I am Commander Cara Letsul, part of the command staff. For now, though please dispense with the rank and just call me Cara." Her eyes then drifted towards the other ladies there, that she knew. Brianthe and also Ellery.

"Hello Brianthe and Ellery, good to see you." Cara greeting them both.

"Hi, Cara," Ellery replied cheerfully. "Nice to be here."

"Hello, Cara," Brianthe replied. She was more interested in talking to the other science officers than anything as she heard the Pioneer had a small vertical garden. "Did I hear you ask for a tour of the arboretum?"

"I did. You're the botanist?" Alyssa replied.

"I am. I'd like a tour of your garden, too. Maybe we can do them both with lunch in between?"

"Definitely," Alyssa said, smiling.

Hermia approached Cara, Brianthe and Ellery. "Hello, I'm Hermia CMO on the Pioneer."

Ellery smiled at Hermia. "Hello. I'm Ellery and I just arrived on the station. Nice to meet you."

"Hello, nice to meet you Hermia." Cara giving a smile, "Tell me this, who are the hostesses of this little get together?"
