Morol walked tiredly into the mess after meeting with the engineering chief. The Petty Officer had his eyes glued to the screen, reading over the equations for the modifications to the propulsion system and specs for the new equipment they'd need to install. He shook his head as he came to a stop in front of the replicator and wondered if he had over promised, "computer, eggs, bacon, sausage, wheat toast and Raktagino with double shot Rial two-two," he ordered and then leaned against the bulkhead while the computer worked, "rerouting holodecks wont be an issue, but, now we have to reinforce all the plasma and power conduits or we'll end up barbecued and well done..." Rial muttered to himself then grabbed his tray without looking and sitting down at a table near the windows.

Yawining and trying to keep that to herself as she trudged sleepily though the mess in the early hours, these graveyard shifts were taking some getting used to for sure, yesterday was straight to quarters, today she felt like company. Ordering up a Andorian heated herbal concoction along with a generous slice of walnut and raisin cake, she slipped though the tables, also wantinga spot with a view. Coming upping a table with one occupant whose attention was buried in a padd, she announced her intention." So this seat taken?"

Rial looked up but before he could say anything the Petty Officer . The Trll smiled at the brunete and nodded, "how can I say no to those big, beautiful brown eyes," he replied with a grin

"Great, I like views too." Glancing over the man's heavily loaded plate and the wiff of strong beverage. She grinned and opened with." Well someone's clearly trying the feed the body nourish the mind approach."

Morol chuckled, "kind of, I just like seeing the docs faces when they look at my blood pressure," the engineer joked with a smile and sat his PADD down, "Morol Rial," he added and extended his hand.

"Heidy Dilucca." She offered camping the outstretched hand for a moment, before picking up her own beverage and holding it with both hands. "Well at least your thinking of others. Let's face it Doc's like nothing more than lecturing persons and crew on how best to take care of themselves. Not to mention the potential follow appointments. You've given them purpose, nicely done." She offered, a smile on her face brooding before she tried to hide it by taking a sip of her drink.

Rial chuckled and took a bite of his food, "I'm an engineer, we're always helpful in some way," he replied then got a mischievous grin, "we're always poking around," he added.

"Poking? I thought you guys went with tinkering." She added returning the smile, scooping up cake with her fork pausing at the taste. "Been waiting for that all day." She remarked quietly before turning her attention to her dinning partner for the morning and asked. "So been poking at anything particularly challenging recently?"

"Well, we tinker while poking," Rial replied with a grin before taking a swig of the pungent coffee, "to me interesting, I'm trying to reroute power for the warp drive. The idea is to use at least three warp shadows in combat should we need it, though, getting all three is proving frustrating," he answered before looking to the cake she'd been eating, "what kind?"

"The cake? Walnut and Raisin. The replicator has done a fairly good job as well. Nice and moist, the perfect complement for hot drink to wind down, comfort food I guess." Heidy explained with a pleased expression on her face. "What about you got a favored comfort food?"

Morol thought for a second then smiled, "anything chocolate," he replied, "I liked it before, but, after joining Rial has some.......pleasent memories with itg, especially the first time one of his hosts first tasted it," he added, blushing slightly.

"Must have been quite a special and personal moment, judging by the colour in you cheeks." Heidy remarked softly and with a coy smile, she was playful by nature but held herself from prying to much. "Of course would approve of that choice, which girl dosent like chocolate, I happen to know Telarite has a dark chocolate that worth a try."

Morol smirked and looked up, "I'm not sure about personal, but it was a fun twenty fours," he replied after a second, "I'll spare details, though, you probably know more than you wanted," he added with a playful laugh.

Heidy looked down for a moment, given her own past the phrase 'more than you know' occurred to her, although she didn't say anything. Instead she looking back up and asked a well worn question. "The real question is, you know it well, what you DH like?"

Morol took a bite of his food and shrugged, "I'm not sure yet, I'm still getting a feel for him. I think he's testing me though, he's gotta make sure I can make the officers look good. What about you, what department?" the Trill asked.

"Hey." She said softly but firmly making sure she had his attention. "You've got yourself this far, just do what you do well and the rest will follow." She said again with a note of firmness but also reassurance, it felt good to support a fellow NCO for a change. "Me, well I'm Security, so any shenanigans and you'll be dealing with me." She explained with a smile and a playful tone. "Brig Officer here, but to be honest it's been quiet around here, so just been walking the beat, long may that continue, huh."

"Thank you," Moral replied with a grateful smile, "oh, so you're an expert with restraints," he said with his own playful tone, "sorry, my....friend is telling me I may be getting out of line," he said with a chuckle and motioned toward his belly, "walking a beat and seeing those interesting thing we think we hide, liquor stashes and such."

It was Heidys turn to color a little, despite or perhaps because of her past she was for a short moment unsure of how to reply, although the playful tone was just begging for a response, she went for cake and let him continue, finally coming up with a response which was just as playful perhaps. "It's in the job description you know, we practice, something just need a little bit more going over you know. But is that a confession mister, do I have to take a closer look somewhere?"

Morol chuckled, "maybe, depends on how curious you get," he said as he took another bit with a playful grin, "so, how is it being enlisted here?" he asked, having noticed the blush and not wanting to embarrass her.

"It's good frankly. It's a small ship and there are quite a lot of us so most of the task fall to us which is a good thing. As side from the usual reports we get to get on with tasks and do our thing. " She answered honestly aside from her report in with her chief and the walkthough with Ensign Eseu she'd only worked with enlisted persons. "Does meet there can be a fight for tables in here at peak time but that just means we get to know each other better, gives a nice sense of belonging. You know."

Rial nodded then scratched the top of his head, deciding that was a good segway into his next question, "what do you about what happened in engineering earlier?" he asked.

"I don't know much to be honest, the team I was with were charged with clearing the folks trying to get at the computer core and the bridge. Why do you ask?" Heidy answered honestly, but it stood to reason that a team would have been sent to engineering.

Morol paused for a second, the confidence he had before starting to fade, "what do you know about the Chief? Is he always so......out of his mind?" the engineer asked after a long pause.

"Morol I don't work engineering, I honestly don't know your DH?" Heidy responded with a confused look on her face.

He shook his head, "not the dh, the cpo that came in and thought negotiating meant calling the the intruders bluff and went to trigger an explosion near the warp core himself...and I don't mean to bluff them, I mean he tried to press the button himself..."

Looking at the man across from her visibly shocked by the events he described Heidy shook her head and sighed. "Great another, militant, end justify the means nutter, just what we need!" She picked up the fork again. "Did you have opportunity to confront him at the time?"

Rial shook his head, "no, the intruders leader was an Orion female," he explained and sighed, "it took everything I had to fight the pheromones enough to get a containment field up around the warp core. The funny thing is if he hadn't come in like a hurricane I wouldn't have been able too...I just wonder if he really knew that or if he really just was trying to die."

Heidy nodded sympathetic from the sound of it he'd had a rough moment and while this Chiefs arrival might have been a catalyst of sorts, she couldn't shake a growing feeling, because of that she knew she couldn't remain objective and she told him as much. "Sounds like you caught a whole lot of luck thank the fates, but it sounds like it will be worth you booking in with a councillor to talk this though, other than that I'm not much use I can't speculate on someone's notices when I get never met then."

"I'm kind of afraid of that department after meeting him," Morol said and couldn't help but chuckle nervously, "I really think they're crazier than their patients."

"You might be right." She admitted before attempting and failing to stifle a second yawn. "Sorry, I'm going to have to love you and leave you. I'm beat. I need my bed." She pushed back on her chair, and gave a mini wave. "Catch you later."

Morol nodded, "sorry about that, I know engineers aren't always the most exciting conversationalists," he said with a chuckle, know he'd gone down to far a tangent, "good night, and thanks for the chat," he added with a sincere smile.
