Mission: Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Sickbay - Deck 5 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 0930 hrs

After her rather unusual impromptu meeting with Spencer, Vura still had a half hour before her next appointment. Too much time had passed between Vura's appointment with Rowena on shore leave and checking in with the Doctor whether Wena had actually followed up.

Vura shook her head at the thought of calling Rowena, "Wena." Damn that man, Edmund. He got her saying it now. Even so, it was Vura's meeting with Edmund that reminded her to follow up.

Heading into sickbay proper, Vura looked for Hermia, hoping that she was fully recovered from the kiss that Hermia had placed on Vura's lips last week.

With Maya and Mac catching up with those who require post boarding physicals, Hermia was catching up on some paperwork, when she felt a familiar presence.

"I'm in my office, Vura." She called out.

Vura had to smile as she glided into Hermia's office. From everything that Vura could tell, medical seemed to be operating at peak efficiency, but such was often the case when a ship only recently set off. "How are you doing this morning, Hermia?"

"I'm doing well, just reading the medical files of our new personnel." Hermia said. "How about you, Vura? Fabulous as always?" She asked with a smile.

"Are you still thinking about our kiss?" Vura asked cheekily. She then did something that Hermia rarely saw her do except at a meal, she sat down in a chair near the CMO.

"Yes, and I enjoyed it, except for the part where it almost turned my brains into scrambled eggs." Hermia said.

"Well, you should have known better," Vura replied with a nonchalant shrug. "After all, you are a doctor and you know about Deltan physiology."

"You're right, it was reckless of me, I would left Helena without a mother and this ship without a CMO, not to mention emotional damage, I could have caused you too." Hermia said. "I'm sorry."

The Deltan counselor shook her head. "Now you're being unnecessarily hard on yourself, Hermia. I mean, who can really resist this?" she asked letting the back of her hands trace down her sides, while putting on a mischievous grin.

"That is true." Hermia said. "And glad as I am that you came to check on me, I have a feeling there is something else on your mind, Vura."

"That is true," Vura admitted, her smile falling from her face. "When was the last time that you did a medical exam on Commander McGowen?"

"Not since after she returned from the mission to the Jutrai colony. Everything seemed fine, she was a little tired, but that was understandable after what she'd been through." Hermia said.

"So, you have not seen her in the last two weeks," Vura searched for a confirming answer with a pensive humming tone.

"Well, there was the Senior staff meeting yesterday." Hermia said. "And now I think about it, something felt wrong about her."

Vura sighed heavily. "Some time last week, I think it was, I asked her to get another checkup from you. She said that she would." The Deltan frowned, which did not hinder her beauty oddly enough.

"Perhaps, she'll come and see me today." Hermia said. "It makes sense, she'd wait until we're underway."

Vura shook her head in the negative. "No, I don't think that is the case, but I do appreciate you giving the situation the benefit of the doubt." She sighed, thinking about her conversation with Edmund. "Perhaps I should."

"Maybe, but if you think there's something going on, we have to investigate," Hermia said.

"I don't know that there is, but I have to get clarification before I can make a determination about her," Vura replied thoughtfully. "Perhaps you could remind her that I suggested that she see you for another scan. It could have just slipped her mind, in which case, I would look foolish for bringing out the big guns already, no matter what my justification may have been."

"Agreed." Hermia said. "Then we can work from there."

"Thank you, Hermia. I really appreciate you doing this. If you could let me know what happens, that would be wonderful too." She gave the Doctor a flirtatious smile. "Who knows? Maybe we could see if we could build you a small immunity to Deltan kisses, as a reward." Vura laughed heartily at the joke.

"Of course, Vura." Hermia said. "As for me enjoying more Deltan kisses, I guess wishes are free."

"What is the saying? If wishes were fishes, we'd be swimming in an ocean?"

"Actually, its 'if wishes were horses, beggars would ride'." Hermia said. "But close enough."

Vura, elegantly raised her hands upward in a helpless fashion. "Metaphors were never my strength."

"Yeah, they can be tricky, I've learnt English ones, Irish ones, and Betazoid ones," Hermia said. "But, I usually only speak Irish when I'm drunk."

"A shame. I'll have to see that we arrange for a time to you get properly snockered, then. I still have more sides of Hermia that I wish to see."

"It will have to be genuine Irish whisky, I won't pollute my body, anything less," Hermia said with smile.

"Do you already have that on hand or are we going to have to find a place to acquire that for you? After all, there's only sythahol here."

"I may have some around here somewhere." Hermia said with a wink.

"Now, now, Hermia. We're both on duty," Vura playfully scolded. "And how would it look if both the CMO and Chief Counselor were sauced on duty? Hmmm?"

"It would set a bad example for the junior officers and crew," Hermia agreed. "Okay, next time we're both off duty, then we can get sauced." She said with a wink.

"I will look forward to it, once you've had a look over of Rowena."

"Me too." Hermia said.

The Deltan Counselor stood up. "Well, I guess that I should get myself back to my office. The work never ends, you know?"

"Yeah, I do know." Hermia said.

"Well, then, I'll leave you to it. I'm sure that I have another appointment coming and if I'm not there, Nina will not be pleased." She blew a kiss towards Hermia with a mischievous smile. "Catch you in your dreams," she flirted as she started to walk away.

Hermia enjoyed the view as Vura left. When the Deltan was gone, she returned to her paperwork.
