Mission: Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Chief Intelligence Officer's Office - SCIF - Deck 9 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD004 1400 hrs

Rowena has recently come to the conclusion she hasn't been spending enough time with a lot of the crew, well aside from senior staff meetings, she only basically saw her own department and occasionally other people. As second officer she needed to get to know the people that she was working with, and one of those people was Lieutenant Michael.

Being a flight control officer is a very important part of the ship. A lot people don't talk about the pilots enough to know that they basically have a lot of controls under their finger tips, and they aside from the engineers down in engineering, make this huge vessel go forward. Not a small feet. Compare that in combat, they have maneuver this large thing around ships and missiles and beams from other vessels. Again no small feet.

Rowena wanted to get to know the chief flight control officer. He seemed like a nice person. She tapped her badge. "Lieutenant Michael, this is Lieutenant Commander McGowen, where would you be at this time, and can we meet up?"

Michael tapped his commbadge. "Whenever is good for you, commander." He waited for a reply, and wondered why would the 2nd officer wants to see him.

"Oh wonderful," Rowena replied. "Can you come over to my office then? I'll be waiting. Oh and also, is there anything you like to drink or eat so I can set it out for you?" She already gotten on her feet to get the replicator to work.

"I'm on my way, commander, and just a cup of hot green tea, one sugar will do nicely." Paul headed to the nearest turbolift.

Paul stepped off the tl and walked to the commander's office, pausing to press the button.

For some reason Rowena knew he was outside. She leaned forward on her desk and said, "Please come, in Lieutenant." As the door opened she felt like she needed to make the man feel comfortable. She got up and pointed to a chair. "Please have a seat, can I get you something from the replicator?"

"I just had lunch, so no, thank you, commander. Why did you want to talk to be about?"

Rowena nodded. "Alright, I won't keep you long then. Please have a sit." She pointed to a chair on the other side of her desk. She sat down in her desk. "Normally, this would be something the first officer would do, but he is otherwise disposed. Or he will be. But don't worry about it. Anyways, I have an important job for you to do." She got up and walked around her desk and put her hand on his shoulder. "Find the doctor."

Michael was puzzled. "The doctor is missing?"

Rowena started to laugh. "No she is not missing." She picked up a padd from her desk and pretended to look at it as she continued, "But if she is, then so are you." A grin playfully came to her face. "But maybe you should find her to be sure, right?"

A puzzled look was on his face. "The doctor isn't missing, but you want me to fin her anyway."

"Oh yes, I don't want her to be alone. Maybe I should send more officers to keep you all company?" The tone in her voice had changed. Somehow darker and deeper. "Should I send the counselor next? Cause you know you guys could use to mental support too." She opened the door and then she laughed before an icy silence fell.

She leaned forward and covered her face. And then she turned around. She looked confused at Paul. "I am sorry, Lieutenant. Did we have an appointment, I don't remember." Her voice was now normal again.

Paul was getting concerned. "Commander, are you feel alright? Should I contact sickbay for you?"

Rowena looked a little confused at the pilot. She tilted her head a little and then she smiled. And then that smile turned in to a grin and she started to laugh. And then she stopped abruptly. "Lieutenant, I am fine, in fact I am doing great." Her voice dark and low. "Absolutely great." She walked back to him as she continued, "However....I am not so sure about you...hmmm, you know what fascinates me...everything ends and everything...dies. But I have been around so long I don't know if I have an end. I stopped wondering about and just...silently watched...others end. It excites me. And now..." She laughed a little. "And now it is your turn. Good bye...Lieutenant Paul Michael." She looked down on him and saw the reflection in his growing eyes, surprise but also misunderstanding.

And then everything was silent. Rowena looked around. She was all alone in her office. She walked back to her desk and opened the computer and called up the file of Lieutenant Paul Michael. She then stared at the status. She then opened the edit file of the lieutenant and then typed in 'MIA possibly KIA'. She then closed the file and her computer. She grinned. "There is always a first."
