Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: SCIF/Chief Intelligence's office
Timeline: MD003 1500 hours

Jayna never did get that drink. She stopped by her quarters to make sure all her bags were accounted for and to change out of her leather into a uniform. It would not make a positive impression on her new Chief to show up dressed like...well, like someone who didn't belong on a starship.

She ran a brush through her hair and checked in the mirror to make sure she looked presentable.

"Computer, where is Staff Warrant Officer Jennifer Masters?"

The computer tjirped. "Staff Warrant Officer Jennifer Masters is in her office in the Secret Compartmentalized Information Facility."

That was the obvious answer, but with the ship just arriving at the station, there were a lot of people coming and going.

Jayna grabbed the PADD with her orders and headed to SCIF.

Jenn was seated behind her desk drinking a mug of hot chocolate. It felt nice to be back in the saddle again. After a few days recuperating it was nice going back to work. And she could say a lot about Beckett, but he at least kept things nice and orderly.

She was reading reports while keeping a half eye on the screen. It was then she saw something come in to view on her screen of the foyer. Automatically the computer did a face recognition. The computer recognized the new comer as Warrant Officer Mira Jayna. She smiled, she heard stuff about her. So she would give her a little test.

She pressed the small covert communicator in her ear which she had given to all her officers. Even the marine or security officer sitting outside in the foyer. "Sergeant, ask for her intelligence security codes before she enters."

Sergeant Wilders sitting in the Foyer heard the message from Jenn, but no one else could hear it. He smiled to Jayna, who just saw someone in civvies. "Hello, miss, may I have your intelligence security codes?"

Jayna raised an eyebrow. That wasn't the way she played this game, but she decided to have a little fun. She smiled sweetly and leaned closer so she could whisper, "Honey, I never give out personal information without dinner first."

Jenn could see and here everything that transpired and saw Gene Wilders struggling with this one. She saw a pink blush come on his cheeks. She let him handle it for a bit before she saved him.

Gene looked to Jayna and blinked as he blushed. "Eh...well, sure. Maybe after my shift..perhaps." He winked to her.

Jenn laughed and said, "Wilders, its ok, let her in. Tell her to go straight to my office."

Gene now pressed in his ear and turned back to Jayna. "The Chief will see you now. She wants you in her office. Are we still up for dinner?" He quickly asked.

Jayna grinned at his befuddlement. She hadn't been sure what sort of response she would get, but since she made the offer, she'd follow through with it. "Sure, but I don't give out personal information."

She waved as she walked past the guard, still chuckling. She had no trouble finding the Chief's office.

Gene waved back, "That's fine, I can wait. See you at 1800 hrs. that's when my shift ends."

"See you then," she replied.

Jen in the meantime was waiting for Jayne to come to her. She was going through her desk drawers, pretending to be interesting.

"I assume you're expecting me," Jayna said from the doorway. She nodded towards the guard. "I'm afraid I embarrassed your him." She grinned. "I don't think he was prepared for my response." She didn't look at all apologetic.

Jenn laughed. "Well, have a seat." She pointed to a chair. "I see you are as good as they say. That is good. That is what we need for what you are coming here to do." She turned on her computer and then said, "Computer, please turn off internal scanners and recorders and close the door."

The Computer tjirped in response.

Jenn then nodded. "What we discuss in this room will be highly classified, you know that right. Not even the captain can know."

Jayna nodded. "Understood." She didn't think her response to the sergeant was all that unique, or that she herself was all that impressive, but she enjoyed what she did and she was generally good at it.

"I got orders from starfleet intell," Jenn said looking seriously. "Effective immediately, new file will be created for you. Which means, you report directly to me and me alone. What ever you find, what ever intell you get, you are not allowed to hand over to anyone on board. You can't even discuss it with my people out there. You report it to me, and only to me." She took a padd out of her desk. "You will get an office on board and a team with the same explicit orders who will report to you. And as far as the captain and the crew is concerned you are an intelligence specialist. Any questions so far?"

Jayna raised an eyebrow, which made her look more Vulcan than usual. "Not yet," she said, knowing there would be more.

Jenn put the padd on the desk and shoved it over to Jayna. "Everything you need to know and your orders are on there. Read and give it back to me." She got up and walked to the replicator. "Would you like some refreshments?"

"Sure. Something fruity," Jayna said, taking the PADD and carefully reading it over. "So, I'm supposed to have this memorized before I leave here?"

Jenn ordered them a drink and then brought it back. "Here you go, and yes you have to memorize it. I am sure you can do that, right?"

Jayna took the glass with one hand and nodded. "Since childhood. The cell didn't want anything written down. Too easy to fall into the wrong hands." She went back over it again to make sure she had all the details. As soon as she and Jayde could read, they'd been drilled on memorization--among other things. She sipped her drink and went over the PADD a third time, then set it down. "Done."

Jenn nodded and took the PADD and deleted the info on there. "I would like to remind you to only report your findings to me. I got Beckett out there thinking he is lord and master out there when I am not around. Keep your eye on him. I am giving you special codes to the main intell data core. Also if you need anything just ask Beckett or Calhoun, they will help you if you order them." She took a sip from her drink. "Every friday we have drinks in after 11 with the department. It's not mandatory, but show your face now and then to not raise suspicion." She put her glass. "Welcome to the department, Warrant Officer."

"I have to order them to help me?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. Beckett she already knew would need watching. His reaction to her earlier was clear indication of that. "I should be able to make drinks on Fridays." It was a good way to build a feeling of unity. She finished her drink and set the glass down. "I don't think I've ever had an assignment like this one." She smiled. "I look forward to the challenge."

"Excellent," Jen said. "And yes, you have to order them. But they will listen. Your rank guarantees they will. And if they don't have them report to me." She grinned. She knew Billy wouldn't be much of a problem once she was done with him. But knowing how Beckett values his hierarchy, she wouldn't expect much of a problem from him.

Jayna didn't like having to order people around, but she could do it. "Who else on this ship do I need to watch out for? Or be aware of?"

"I think I shouldn't tell you in this line of work you watch everyone," Jen said with a smile. "But for the time being, the crew is in the clear."

Jayna nodded. "Yes, but there are some that need special attention." Then she grinned. "Or a leash."

Jen laughed. "Right now for me that is Beckett, but I can handle him." She then picked up the padd to dispose of it. "I am letting you go now. You have you're orders."

Jayna nodded again. "Yes, ma'am." If nothing else, this place was going to be interesting.
