Mission: Episode 8 - The Silence
Location: Bridge - Deck 1 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD001 1130 hrs

Tyler stepped out of the Ready Room and saw a sight that never got old to him. His crew at their stations smiling and ready to see what was out there. He exchanged a couple of smiles with some of the crew as he made his way to the command chair. Ingrid was at the helm, and Ameri was at Ops all seemed alright with the world. "Right, let's get out there and see if we can get a new home for some of our friends. Lieutenant O Flannagain please contact station Ops and begin the clearance procedure."

“Aye Captain,” Ameri called out. She turned to her console and contacted the Ops officer on duty and asked for clearance for them to leave. Ameri stood listening as they began to clear them for departure.

Tyler took a few steps down to the helm and spoke in a whisper. "Lieutenant if you feel you're not up to this just say the word. I know the ordeal you went through..."

"Maybe we could trade places?" she asked over her shoulder, smiling up slyly at her commanding officer. She ignored the gravity of his comment, though it was with more difficulty than she let on. "I've already tried on one of those comfy chairs, so I'm game if you are."

Tyler smirked "Perhaps one day Lieutenant but as for today, get us clear of home..." His voice trailed off and a moment later he had realized what he had said. "I mean Upper Pylon 7" He took his seat in the command chair. "All stations report ready to move. Hollister at your leisure."

“All systems normal, Captain,” Ameri spoke up. She had her eyes on her console.

Ingrid pressed three keys on the thruster control panel and a the very subtle hum of thrusters activated. On the viewscreen, the station and space around them shifted slightly to the left as the Pioneer moved away from its pilon. Ingrid pressed two keys followed, after several seconds, by a third one and the ship stopped its starboard motion to begin moving forward. The Intrepid class ship glided slowly forward until it had past its pilon by and slipped, finally, past the docking ring. The hum of thrusters died down as Ingrid turned in her chair, looking at Tyler.

She looked at the man for just a spit second and, though she wasn't in her best mood today, he reminded her of someone who had helped her alot in the past. She hadn't seen it before, but the way that Tyler related to his crew and his ship resembled that of Captain Park. Outside of her secret and estranged family, the man had been the closest thing she had to family and, by far, the healthiest father figure she'd every had. She smiled a bit at the memory and, perhaps, at the man in front of her.

"We're clear and free, sir." she said, folding her manicured hands in her lap as she sat in perfect, lady-like fashion, as if she was wearing a dress.

"Set a course for Wren IX warp 6. Please alert Lieutenant tr'Hwersuil of our eta so he can coordinate the expeditionary teams." Tyler leaned onto the armrest of his chair and appeared to be looking at the ship's data readouts on the armrest computer. However, this was a cover he was listening to his favorite sound. The sound of the warp nacelles locking into position just before the ship went into warp.

"Setting Course." Ingrid said as she input the commands into the nav computer. She felt the ship's power pulsating around them as the nacelles lifted into their place and a swirl of light streaked past the viewscreen.

Ameri smiled to herself. She had no regrets having put her career on hold for her family but she was excited to be standing there on her first adventure.

Tyler stood up with a smile and walked over to the Ops console toward the back of the bridge. He was happy and proud that business on the ship had returned to a form of normalcy. "You know Ameri once we clear the system and are at warp you can go take time to be with your family. Tell that workaholic husband of yours that he should do the same. Both of those are orders." He smiled "Might as well enjoy the calm before the storm."

“I will,” Ameri replied with a smile. Quinn would stay at work until he was certain everything he could possibly do was done and then hang on longer. It would be her pleasure to give him the captain’s orders to go home. “The Commander won’t know what hit him.”
