Location: Temporary Guest Quarters - Deck 7 - Empok Nor
Timeline: MD000 Pre USS Pioneer 2394

"Focus on your white light. Notice your mind working. How it plans for the future. How it visits the past. Notice those thoughts and set them aside. Turn your attention to the white light that is your breath."

T'Rish recited the words calmly. Her hands were folded in front of her. All fingers interlaced except her pointer fingers and thumbs which were pressed to their respective pair. Her eyes were closed as she repeated the chant that was designed to focus her mind. She had been taught this chant when she was a child. She called on it many times over her short life. There was no doubt she would call on it many times in the future.

Her breath was steady when she finally opened her eyes and focused on her meditation lamp that sat in front of her crossed legs. The room around her was dark with the exception of the illumination from her lamp. Her mind focused on the flickering light as she purged all thoughts. The turbulent emotions that Vulcans kept in check were like a a stalk of wheat in a storm. The Vulcan hybrid focused on her breath as she fought to calm the storm and return the wheat to a state of peace.

T'Rish's breath hitched slightly as wind accelerated. The stalk of wheat bent further as the the storm intensified. She closed her eyes pressing down the storm that was not of her own making. She could feel the waves of emotion rolling over her. Threatening to pull her under as the tide grew in intensity. The sheer power of the wave was overwhelming as she attempted to fight back.

Perspiration began to form on her smooth brow as her eyes once again opened taking in the light in front of her. A breath of frustration left her lips as the sound of breaking glass sounded against the wall she shared with the unit next to hers. She looked up at the wall as if she could see through it. Waiting, she listened to the fight as it reached its crescendo.

The overwhelming wave began to recede as the sounds next door confirmed that one of the occupants had stormed out. A tentative breath escaped her barely parted red lips as her eyes fluttered closed.

"Focus on your white light. Notice your mind working. How it plans for the future. How it visits the past. Notice those thoughts and set them aside. Turn your attention to the white light that is your breath."
