Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Deck 2, Jennifer's quarters
Timeline: MD010 1850 hrs

Jennifer Masters wasn't the person that let others fiddle around with her face and her hair so she did everything herself. She sat in front of her mirror in her bedroom getting ready for the wedding. Her wedding. She had braided her hair in one braid with a purple lace in it. This was the first time she had done something different with her hair. She had opted to keep her hair loose for the day, but changed her mind quickly. The braid was a lot loser than the tight braids she wore on duty though.

She got up to look at her dress. It was a pants dress. It was so her. Looked classy but just right for her. She made a twirl. She took a deep breath. She was nervous. Somewhere even more than before a mission. Suddenly she heard someone enter her bedroom. It couldn't be Billy, he had already left this morning. She turned around and saw her aunt standing there.

Willy looked at her. A little smirk on her face. "You look a lot like your mother, you know that? But there is so much of your father in there too. The aggression, that free spirit. You got that from your father. And to think you would go the same way as your father." She sighed and sat down on the bed. "You know, I thought about stopping you. But i realized it's no use. Just like your father you would've resented me if I did."

Jenn stared at her mirror. "I know I invited you, but why now? Why now, Willy?" She crossed her arms and looked at her aunt.

Willy sighed. "I expected this question. I also understand you waited for this moment, as I knew you would confront me alone. That's who you are." She looked at the floor a moment. "When news reached me you had dropped out of the academy and what accusations you were possibly facing I thought I lost you for good." She got up and walked to the window and looked outside. "I never asked for this. Not you, not your sister or your brother. But when your parents died this was dropped on me. I resented my brother, your father for this. And..and watching you growing up I always thought, no, I always knew, you would be the one to follow in your father's footsteps. And not just that, despite...." She took a deep breath before she continued, "....despite you always coming home with the cuts and bruises, you were the one I was the least worried about."

Jenn had just now noticed the dress her aunt was wearing. It was a short purple dress with black heels. Her blond hair nicely put together with clips. "Why didn't you say something? You always shouted at me, you always came over disappointed. I lost my mother, I had no one. You were...are the closest thing I have to a mother."

Willy turned around and looked at her. Her blue eyes were glistening with tears. "I know, Jennifer, and I am sorry." She walked over to Jenn and put her hands on her shoulders. "Listen to me, your mother and your father would both have been so proud of you. Look at you, chief intelligence officer on a star fleet vessel. You're getting married. I don't know Billy that well yet, but from what I learned from him, he sounds like a grand man. Jennifer...." She bit her lip and then said, "I may have not said it as much as I should, forgive me for that, but I am so proud of you. I really am."

Hearing her aunt say that, she couldn't hold back her own tears either. Willy pulled her in a hug and the two women cried for a moment. Finally Willy pulled back and started to wipe her tears under her eyes. "Oh look at that, there goes my mascara."

Jenn pulled out one of her drawers and took out a box of tissues and handed it to her aunt, Her aunt took it and started to clean her eyes. "I will have to fix that later, you have to get to the wedding now."

Jenn dried her eyes as well and nodded. "Yes." They walked to the doors to her quarters and she stopped a moment before the doors and then said, "Thank you for telling me this, Willy, you have no idea how much this means to me."

Willy remained silent as they left the room.
